I thought the film was about the casuals, The people rather than the violence?

No it's about football violence, I'm not even going to recommend the film to you, it's poor.

There is that book about Brighton " a casual look" but I always thought the Suede Heads, Skinheads and Mods had more style so when the Goldstone had casuals instead then I thought it a shame. The Doc Martins outside the North Stand and Skinheads in their socks is a memory of the Goldstone

Yes I have watched some films loads of times but you have missed the point AGAIN.
You watch a crap film about football violence TWICE then post about brain dead idiots, my point is you must of enjoyed something about it to watch it again.

OK, in two years in between watching a film again seems reasonable...how many times have you seen Where Eagles Dare...or Dirty Dozen...if more than once,does that mean you like war?....

Skinheads,Suedeheads had no style but us Smoothies were the forerunner of Casuals. No rough Jeans,t shirts or boots for us (most skins wore builders boots with external steel toecaps or ex army combats. DM's were too expensive for brickies or Lathe operators). Smoothies wore Tonic Harringtons,Ice Blue Staypress (ankle Length) and a decent pair of Leather soled Brogue shoes (Loakes or Clarkes if you were skint but most important was a grade 3-4 cut every other week.

I was in the same class at school as one of the authors of that book (LB). Very sound lad, haven't seen him for years.

I can remember pretty much the whole North Stand in electric blue Lois cords (with a couple of oddballs in yellow ones). Don't know what sort of sight it looked from the pitch or other stands but it was striking to be in there.

Even in the late 80's there were lots of "old skinheads/ suedeheads" in the North Stand. Always thought they were cut above the casuals on the style stakes but expect PPF would disagree!

You've just got older mate...happens to all of us...I was one of the first Teddy boys in Brighton...bees knees...a complete change in style......but Mods and Rockers came after that... what goes around,comes around...look forward to being a Ted in 2050.

i want all you skinheads out there to put you braces together and your boots on your feet and give me some of that oooooooooooooold moonstomping .......yeah yeah yeah yeah OR...... do you remember the days of 69 see a load of skinheads standing in a line, foaming at the mouth waiting for a fight,high boots ,cropped hair what a ****ing site

Plenty of lads that were skins in the late 70s early 80s ( not the original skinheads) started growing their hair, wearing Stan Smith trainers, Levi Red Tab jeans, Fred perry jeans/ jumpers and green flight jackets, this is what I saw as the original casuals in Brighton, this was before I had seen anyone wearing Fila, Taccini etc . I had not heard the name casuals then.
Obviously something different was happening I Liverpool.

I got mine in London, can't remember the shop but you couldn't get the proper green one in Brighton at first, I had a navy blue flight jacket bought in Brighton.
We used to go to London to get Lonsdale t-shirts and sweatshirts from the Lonsdale boxing shop near Carnaby Street.
Any youngsters reading this, this was years before Sports Direct bought Lonsdale and started selling t- shirts for peanuts.

Flight jackets, yuk the horrible nylon jacket of the skinhead revival. We all had em, but gotta say bloody awful things. Not a patch on a nice mohair tonic Harrington.

The Harrington jacket was popular before the flight jacket, I had the black cotton jacket with a tartan lining, I think Potters in London Road Brighton sold this type of jacket.

I already have the haircut (or lack of haircut) for this and a Ben Sherman shirt, but no Dr Marten boots!
