No it shouldn't, he's a CB for starters so hardly the most exciting position on the pitch
It doesn't need to be an exciting position. He should win us points, and that's exciting enough for me.

And that's fair enough. I'm pleased for you.

I struggle to see why any Albion fan would be anything other than delighted with this. We've got ourselves an England international, left footed, Premier League regular centre back for nothing. We might even score from corners!

That last point is a good one as it goes. An aerial threat from corners/set pieces is never a bad thing and it's something we don't really have at the mo. A point of order though - he hasn't been a first team regular at Stoke.

It'll be interesting to see if he starts on Saturday, and if so who makes way for him. I'd be in favour of giving GG a rest personally.

It's fairly relevant to why we desperately needed a centre back.

It's very very late, and it's not cycling related

It's a fair cop.

It will be interesting how he is bedded in. The way we play makes centre back a key position in starting our possession. Itv requires a lot of movement, good control, and accurate passing. Maybe not what he has practicing at Stoke.

Jury will be out on Upson until we've seen his attitude. His recent past has been far from successful and probably Pulis wishes he'd never signed him. Experienced central defender - scores goals - makes mistakes aplenty - but has seen the big occasions.

Bridge could have been a disaster if his attitude was "what am I doing here ?". He has been a real star with outstanding performances almost every game. Upson could do similar, but I'll reserve judgement until it is clear how he wants to perform.

That's the Spearitt Eddie!

It's a while since I have had the chance to say that.

Not sure about Upson. Last few times I have seen him play he has been awful. I will certainly get behind him and hope he proves me wrong in an Albion shirt.

Think you'll find GG is "resting" his hamstring for a few weeks. :)

My eyesight is not brilliant. I can categorically state here and now, that I will not be able to tell him and Bridge apart.

You will able to tell it's Upson because he will be on the seat of his pants when playing a decent forward ie Murray/Phillips where he has been turned inside out so many times.

Bridge however will continue to be in the right position at the right time, twice the player IMO.

Hope i am wrong would have preferred the wages spent elsewhere.

Upson has played and coped against far far better forwards than Murray, and Kevin Phillips is long past his best. Playing alongside another former England team mate and in front of a Polish international keep shoudl give him confidence that he's part of a serious team.

God, I wish the club would stop this selective colour nonsense. With respect to 16-year-olds, it's the kind of thing you'd expect in a GCSE project.

Could be worse ...

Instead of a club shirt they've given Dobbie one about Palace's recent form.
