And no-one can fault his effort, commitment and contribution...........

But in my view he is starting to look like the weakest link in the team. Both goals beaten in the air today. he's starting to look pedestrian, he backs off too much to buy himself turning time.

Thank you for your great contribution GG, but I think Bridders should take the armband now, and Dunky, or a new signing, should step in.

I t would have to be a new signing to replace him because Dunk is nowhere near as good as him on the ground and no better in the air, at the moment but maybe one day.

Interesting, one of GG best qualities is the calmness he plays the ball out of defence lot CB's just hoof the ball away, this for me is the reason he plays every week.

His obvious weakness is his ability or lack of, in the air, especially fora tall man he doesn't win enough headers, but apparently stopped a cert goal today with a block.

A centre back should be getting 4 or 5 goals a season, ours have managed maybe 4 or 5 collectively over the past two seasons. it is an area we need to improve in for sure.

Agree with you, we need a new first choice central defender, and for Greer to drop down to the bench.

Isn't Lewis Dunk in court on Monday?
Edit : He is - Old Bailey ( not Lewes ) Monday 10:30 am

Oh good, more Greer bashing. He was at fault for the equaliser... oh wait, no he wasn't. Nevermind, blame him anyway.

Wasn't at the game so can't say if he was at fault today but as a captain I think he does a tremendous job and has been a decent defender all season. Yes mistakes are going to be made from time to time, how many times has an offensive player failed to score or hit the target?

I'm sorry but he is infinitely better than Greer in the air. Greer is integral to the way we play but I think we are currently looking for a CB who can take us to the next level.

This is like saying Jimmy Anderson's place in the test side is uncertain because he doesn't score any runs.

He is on the wane, but he's the most natural passer of our centre backs.

El Abd is a great stopper and battler who revolutionised his own game, and Dunk is a great prospect, but they can't distribute as well.

After Greer, we need to buy. How's Grant Hall coming along?

Ultimately, unless you're City or United there's always room for improvement at centre back. Greer didn't cost much but is now being judged as to whether he's Premier League quality. It's a pointless exercise, and who wants to criticise players who are taking the club forward?

If this lad Ulloa and Vicente do the biz then Greer just has to do what he's been doing and we're in the play-offs. By all means criticise the big money signings on big wages if they under-perform but don't criticise Greer simply because he's not John Terry.

this, excellent post...Greer just needs to keep doing what he's doing and IF we should get promotion then we might need to think about replacing him...

I do agree he is our weak-link, however the timing of the OP's comment is a bit strange after, i thought, today he was fantastic and had his best game for us for a while!

Greer now slows the game down to his pace which could be total carnage if Theo Walcott plays.

In my view his last season with us.
