By the same token, should white people not be offended by terms such as "******" or "paki" then?

We can see you holding fans?

Surely not? It's hands isn't it?

And Sir Albion - why can't straight people be offended by homophobic abuse? If you had a black friend, wouldn't you be offended if someone was shouting racist abuse at him?

If you was a gaylord then you may get offended, but straight people should not be offended by these cock sucking comments etc etc.

I can't tell if you're trying (and failing) to be funny/fishing, or if you seriously think something as pathetic and naive as that.

It never takes long for people to show up with this attitude. Any time people complain of homophobic abuse people seem to make an assumption it's those chants. 99% of the time, it has nothing to do with them and is about actual homophobic abuse.

http://www.northstandchat.com/showthread.php?230662-Vitriolic-homophobic-Millwall-fans

People do tend to 'show up' on here as it's a fans forum where people can express their opinions and view others.

Cor 'aids scum aids scum' how awful!!! Shocking homophobic abuse.

Incidently i have never seen a fuss about some of the disgusting chants that used to be aimed at David Beckham and his wife and children but off course that sort of thing wont interest the PC leftie liberals of this world will it......because he's a white hetrosexual male.

I just think some perspective is needed here and going back to my first reply the Police's priority should be to arrest people inflicting physical violence.................'sticks and stones......................'

Its not fishing its facts,to many sissy's out there who need to man up as most of us get these comments at work while pi$$ing around.Yes im sorry kids have to hear this, but you will find foul language is everywhere and football is top of the list when it comes to that.

Its not my fault your a prude, grow a backbone like the rest of the soppy gits who can't handle a bit of gay talk thrown at them.People must have really dire lifes if they actually get offended by these comments.

If you're not gay then why should you be offended, its like someone calling me a black cu*nt even though im white.

Neither are offensive because neither are true???

Please explain how a child is expected to "man up", it's about standards of behaviour - which part of that is SO difficult to understand?

Some odd views tbh. Of course dealing with physical violence should be top priority but chanting can lead to personal abuse which can then lead to worse. Replacing some song lyrics with the word N****r would be deemed wholely unacceptable so i do not see this should be any different.

Oh good. As if this subject hasn't been debated ad infinitum before, has it?

"It's just banter"

"it's no longer acceptable and there are laws against it"

"this country is going to the dogs"

"you're a dinosaur. This is the 21st century"

"you're making football sterile. It's a working man's game. The language should reflect that"

"it's a family game now"

I think that sums up the debate quite nicely. Have I missed anything?

Yes:

Person 1: How can anyone be offended by "we can see you holding hands/does your boyfriend know you're here"?

Person 2: They're not, it's about actual vitriolic, vile, foul offensive abuse, not those chants

Person 3: How can anyone be offended by "we can see you holding hands/does your boyfriend know you're here"?

Person 4: How can anyone be offended by "we can see you holding hands/does your boyfriend know you're here"?

Person 5: How can anyone be offended by "we can see you holding hands/does your boyfriend know you're here"?

etc.
