Barrel of Fun

Abort, retry, fail
I don't quite understand the vitriol directed towards her. Britain needing a change, no? We were on the verge of bankruptcy and the unions were running the show. Granted, she did some good and did some bad, but I would like to see what those that will 'dance on her grave' would have done in the same situation.

There is a reason why some people are elevated to Prime Minister and why the rest of us are just minions.

NB I'm not a Maggie fan. Being born in 1980, I have only been able to garner information from what I have read and studied.

Jelly and Ice Cream when Thatcher dies :rave: :rave: :rave:

I am not really old enough to appreciate the life and times of Maggie, I am certain you are not!

Ice cream?

As long as it's not the lard-flavoured, air-filled stuff that Thatcher was involved in inventing before she went into politics.

That is a crime against humanity in its own right.

Ice cream - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

One important development in the 20th century was the introduction of soft ice cream. A chemical research team in Britain (of which a young Margaret Thatcher was a member) discovered a method of doubling the amount of air in ice cream, which allowed manufacturers to use less of the actual ingredients, thereby reducing costs. It made possible the soft ice cream machine in which a cone is filled beneath a spigot on order.

Why a state funeral? She wouldn't want one, surely. The state was ever her enemy.

And in any event the private sector can provide that service more efficiently, and at a lower cost, than the state ever could do. Perhaps they can put sponsors' logos on the coffin to recover their expenses. Like Formula 1.

I think something has been missed here. I don't think the concept of the state funeral is being put forward on the basis of her domestic agenda, which is always a very subjective matter. The fact is that she led this country in a conflict to successfully liberate British sovereign territory and I am guessing it is for this reason that the state funeral is being suggested.

I make no comment about whether or not I support such a funeral. To debate this ahead of a person's death seems a little distasteful.

When she goes, it will be a champagne popping day in the Dover slum. She decimated the town I was born in, and the scars are still there, and very deep.
