I woke up this morning , switched on the radio , and first thing i heard was someone on Radio 5 talking about a state funeral for Thatcher .

My first instinct was to leap out of bed , put on "Ding dong , the Witch is dead " from the Wizard of OZ , and find the champagne.

Alas , however ,it transpired that this was just an invitation for a discussion on the event of her future demise .

So , what do the great and good of NSC think ?

Gun carriage procession down Whitehall ,

or Cardboard box left out for the bins ?

I'm sure the regular funeral for dead ex-PMs will suffice.

Hardly anyone gets a state funeral. Not even Saint Diana or HM the Queen Mother.

Thatcher certainly doesn't deserve to get on the list. Nor did Haig or Carson, either. But that's another argument altogether.

Admiral Robert Blake (1657)
Sir Isaac Newton (1727)
Horatio Nelson, 1st Viscount Nelson (1806)
Arthur Wellesley, 1st Duke of Wellington (1852)
Henry Temple, 3rd Viscount Palmerston (1865)
Charles Darwin (1882)
The Rt Hon. William Gladstone (1898)
Queen Victoria (1901)
King Edward VII (1910)
Frederick Roberts, 1st Earl Roberts of Kandahar (1914)
Douglas Haig, 1st Earl Haig (1928)
Edward Carson, Baron Carson (1935)
King George V (1936)
King George VI (1952)
The Rt Hon. Sir Winston Churchill (1965)
Louis Mountbatten, 1st Earl Mountbatten of Burma (1979)

Thatcher's funeral should fit her politics.

A state funeral costs MILLIONS of PUBLIC money. Hers should be funded by PRIVATE money. Her family should invite tenders and give the job to the cheapest bidder.

Wasn't it mentioned somewhere that they want to ship her body to the US to be cryogenically frozen ?

why waste a perfectly good cardboard box?

Family of wasters - well loaded - let them pay for whatever they want but don't expect me to divvy up for them

Isn't it weird that I was thinking of the musical Billy Elliot earlier today and remembering how they all were singing: "Its one day more, closer to your death!"

I wonder how many former miners will be cheering her eventual demise.

Nonetheless I feel neither concerned or hateful of Maggie Thatcher.

whatever next , a state funeral for Hindley

Not quite a comparison but for what she did she should get nothing , absolutly nothing.

It will be a day of joy for millions
