here hare here
I found myself listening to them the other day and forgot how quite shocking their lyrics are too. Their melodies, well quite simply you've heard them before.

You could get a write a computer program to compose Oasis songs and quite frankly, they'd probably be better.

They don't, they are quite simply....

rubbish.

Well, quite frankly their whole career was 90s ad men trying to market the 1960s all over again.

I'll wait for another band of some significance musically comes along and quite frankly I've havent heard or seen one since Nirvana.

quite right.

I saw them 14 times in 1994, the last time being at the Brighton Centre supported by Ride on I think 27 December, shortly before I departed to Oz. I've rarely seen a better band than they were back then, they were awesome, and believe me I've seen hundreds of great bands. The first album was as good a debut as you'll get, the second IMHO was fawned over once the hype machine really kicked in and was somewhat over rated. Since then it's been pretty average but I thought the last 2 albums were both very good myself and they totally kicked arse here at a "Rock-It" festival a few years back supporting Don't Believe The Truth. I can't see either brother doing much of any worth solo as they very much "neeeed each other" as they once sang.
RIP a band who have enriched many lives, including mine.

So you overlook every band that isn't as musically significant as Nirvana, so that's pretty much everyone since then

Oasis is a bit marmite. If you like them then you probably always will, if not then you'll always think they're shit. Enough people like them to have however many no.1 albums and sold out stadium tours. I don't care what anyone says about noels music, he is still a shit hot musician. And the shit about only having one or two good album is bollocks, every album (except SOTSOG) has had two or three quality tracks on.

Horses for courses innit

And of course the Fab 4 never ripped anyone off, apart from a load of early 60's soul & r'n'b acts. The Beatles took 3yrs to make a decent album.

I guess you had to be there to appreciate that the 1st three albums were more than decent. I thought Abbey Road and Let it Be were really disappointing albums when they came out and nothing has changed my opinion since, yet many consider those albums are their finest. Give me the early fresh unpretentious stuff everytime. If ever a band disappeared up their own arses it was the Beatles...imo

As for Oasis, a few good songs but samey to the point of making me want to scream when I hear them. Good riddance

Hopefully goodbye to the most overrated British band in history.

Great first album and everything since has been rubbish.

Almost. But actually the Rolling Stones are the most overrated British band in history. Their 1990s offspring come in at only second.

Only since 1980, before then they were fantastic and Exile on Main St remains one of the all time great rock albums.

Most overrated imo has to be Oasis or Blur

Thank christ for that, they've done the country a huge favour but knocking it on the head but you can bet Noel will be back with a 'Beatles By Numbers' tune very soon. As for Liam I'm sure there is some winey litttle 'indie' band that might find a use for his vocal talents.

Give it few years until they get short of cash and then they'll kiss and make up for a reunion tour a la the Sex Pistols and countless others.

Gas Panic, Fuckin' The Bushes and Go let It Out?? I reckon the only album with but a single decent track was no.3, Be Here Now - a dreadful record saved only by the slow burner that is D'Yer Know What I mean, IMHO.....

The Stones - have they ever done anything interesting. Discuss.

I shall answer my own question. Yes, they made a series of quite brilliant pop singles in the 60s and early 70s and some outstanding rock albums from 68 through to 78. But they have never taken any chances, never innovated, never pushed the boundaries (not even as solo artists). Pretty poor for a band that have been successful for 45 years.
