[Albion] What should the club do about yesterday's game?

I think the club are playing it well. There’s not much we can do to get back the point(s) lost on Saturday, but by keeping it in the media narrative it gets into he refs’ heads. Whoever is on VAR for our next few games will be very wary about giving anything but a stonewall decision against us. Even the on-field officials might have some unconscious bias in our way for a change.

It didn't happen after the Palace debacle.

Disagree.

Firstly the potential 5 points we have lost through the already PGMOL admitted apologies could end up costing us millions of pounds through league position, prize money and maybe missing out on European football.

Secondly, the Club’s hierarchy continuing to plug away at it and not letting it go while being sensible about it would only serve to convince the playing and coaching staff that we mean business…… if they need convincing of it. I wouldn’t normally advocate the idea of being angry, but there is such a thing as righteous anger.
Where there's blame, there's a claim.
Surely by the authorities making an apology they have accepted blame and therefore left themselves open to a claim.
As you say these poor decisions could cost us millions in pounds and potentially miss out on a European campaign.
I'd be knocking on someone's door not seeking clarification but compensation .

How did Sheffield United get on when they were basically relegated because goal line technology wasn’t working and Villa got the points that kept them up and relegated Sheffield United ?

There will be something in the articles of the premier league that prevent legal action based on results / decisions

If you don't ask you don't get. This is a multi million pound industry and someone is clearly liable.

Whatever we do ain't going to give us a point or 3 back. But as way of protest maybe the club should not bother to put the Premier league arch thing out before kickoff or leave it face down on turf when teams come out at next televised league game v Utd on May 4th. Sod the fine...at least it makes a point and state why we are doing it all over the media prior to game. That game will be going live to quite a few countries!
This would seem the best idea, wish I'd thought about it. Make a huge thing of it by telling the press what we intend doing. Fade out that stupid EPL song after 5 seconds (that no one can remember anyway). All things that the TV cameras cant avoid showing.

Replay the game ?
Give us a point ?
Take legal action ?
Refuse to play another game till we get an investigation ?

I'm as f***ed off as anyone over how yesterday panned out, but some of you are losing your frigging minds

The standard of refereeing in a Premier League game has never been discussed so much by the media.

.. and this is "little Brighton".

Unprecedented situation, two highly debatable disallowed goals and three very very clear penalty shouts all dismissed in a single game in presumably the best league in the world.

Something has to happen, because cumulatively the decisions by the officials won the game for Spurs. There isn't another example quite like yesterday.

I remembered that Arsenal Sheffield FA game that was replayed and that was over an unwritten rule about giving the ball back. Wenger from memory initiated it.

Yesterday was far far worse. Worse case scenario 5 goals struck off.

The game should be deemed void and replayed. It was that bad.

The Arsenal game was only replayed because Wenger offered it straight after the game.

I really don’t think anyone wants to get into the realms of replaying games because of referee mistakes. However bad.

Sadly I think that's probably true.

I remember it clearly and it didn't set a precedent.

Yesterday crossed a line because of the number of mistakes and their nature. We are in completely new territory.

It was uniquely appalling in the history of the Premier League.

A disgrace to English football, probably the lowest moment I’ve seen in Premier League football since “The Battle of Bramall Lane” in terms of ethics being displayed on a football pitch at this level.

Absolutely shameful for British sport. A new low.

I was talking about the Spurs game. He said “Yesterday crossed a line because of the number of mistakes and their nature. We are in completely new territory.

But I suspect you knew that.

We have to be asking for or acquiring the conversations that were held by the ref and VAR for the absurd VAR decisions.

After that (and in this order of trying) demand:
A) points given to us (Spurs can keep theirs if necessary - they're shit)
B) game to be replayed
C) financial compensation
D) alongside above, all var officials in future games accompanied by that public face of Howard Webb at Shockley Park
E) Var official on Saturday to be banned or sacked.

I'm sure we could at least (without it changing any of the injustice) just say, very politely and very publicly, that we don't accept the apology?

Cheers Official Old Man...this would hugely embarrass the Premier league and yes we would get fined but it would send a very strong message that they need to get PGMOL to sort themselves out. Club should tell other 19 clubs of their intentions and hopefully some might follow suit which would inturn tells League enough is enough. VAR should be a product that is simple to implement if you have competent staff over seeing it. I feel for Howard Webb, he has been royally let down by his ex colleagues. Its time to get ex players, managers as well as competent officials to get VAR doing what The Premier League and football deserves.

And what a precedent THAT would set. Just imagine clubs having grounds to apply to have games replayed because of dogshit refereeing. Christ, we can barely celebrate goals any more these days, imagine not being sure if the cuffing result will still stand because of a shite call by the officials.

Saturday was exceptionally bad, and I'm as mightily pissed off as everyone else. But if we enter the realms of granting REPLAYS due to some shite decisions, can you just begin to imagine where we'd end up ? Quite apart from when exactly these games would be shoe-horned in to the remaining fixture list. And on what criteria would be to grant this.

We've had to swallow an almighty shit sandwich (again), but calls for games to actually be replayed is ludicrous and unworkable. And frankly, I fear we are beginning to sound like a bunch of fannies over all this by screaming for replays and legal action.

So at what point does the quality of refereeing deem a game null and void ?

If yesterday didn't cross the line it's staring right at it, which is why the media (who have little interest in Brighton) have covered the story to the extent which they have.
