He was week as shit. As most are. Falling for cheating and time wasting.. Time and time again. But then getting all on top of minor f***ing shit like the ball might be moving slightly when we tried a quick free kick. (It wasn't) Poor. Not surprised De Zerbs unloaded on the inefficient berk.
I've had shit weeks but what is "week as shit?"

Fulham’s tactics were almost as bad as Villa when they came down South. We had enough chances but difficult when you are against 12 men!!
Some real blatant fouls either missed or given the other way. There was a play on in the second half that broke down immediately that should have been pulled back.

Anyway still 2023 FA Cup winners!! 😂😂

I am glad we don't, disrespect is a massive problem across football. We have a thread about it on here. I am glad that we are doing things the right way. Of course it is a shame that other don't follow suit and help to solve the problem but I am glad that we are being the change we want to see.
Agree we don't want Ferguson's United style of threateningly mobbing the referees - but our senior players could/should be constantly (but reasonably politely) in the referee's ear the whole game, reminding him about the time wasting and fake head injuries.

Don’t really understand what he’s complaining about so much? We were done fair and square.

Suppose some will say it’s passion but a littl bit embarassing?
Radio Sussex were on about it yesterday.
mrs DiS has just read out stuff from the Athletic about the Fulham play acting and cheating and time-wasting.
I think you’re in the minority.

yes, if we had taken our chances it wouldn’t matter as much, but it still matters.

Do you think this is how it is in the EPL, that it is just bad luck and the swings and roundabouts will turn, or that it is a conspiracy?

And what do you think can be done about it?

I a uncertain, but favour 1 and 2.

It can be only that, or it would be a conspiracy. I don't think the refs have the brains to organize a conspiracy...perhaps I'm wrong.
It’s not a conspiracy, it’s managers schooling teams in how to abuse the laws in order to break up play. That’s not referees fault, the laws need to be altered to punish the piss taking. It’s endemic and the media praising such tactics and pundits not calling it out allows it to flourish. It’s not why we lost and whilst the ref was weak yesterday, it’s a much bigger problem on my view. It ruins the game as a spectacle.

Mine also, I am not disputing that the refereeing was crap. It was, as were the tactics employed by Fulham. But we have been watching this game long enough to know that sometimes/often this is what we are up against.

Yet for the last two games we have chosen to focus on this instead of the short comings of our team.

I say this is a waste of time and energy and we are better off trying to address our deficiencies and get better.
It’s a bigger conversation, for me it’s not specifically about yesterday, it’s how to prevent games turning into stop/start cheat fests. It’s shite to watch apart from anything else.

Yeah I agree, we need an overhauling of refereeing and other aspects of the game.

Not going to happen anytime soon though, in the meantime we need to covert our dominance and put games to bed

I think it has happened, Howard Webb replaced Mike Riley has head of PGMOL in January (fast tracked from the summer), they’ve already ‘agreed’ for Lee Mason to leave after some major mistakes. But any change will take time

Not only did the ref lose control of the game, he was also complicit in disrupting the flow of the game.
Giving bizarre decisions and dragging the game back when we were keen to crack on.
I suspect it was this that RDZ was peeved at.
So much this. All the wind up merchants supporting the poor old ref are clueless. Only a complete lack of commonsense, confidence and competence stops these individuals from outfoxing the cheats and managing the game much better. They literally hold the cards (and the stopwatch) - it isn't difficult.

I agree entirely.

My comments were triggered because I seemed to be getting a whiff on this thread that it is somehow about us getting particularly badly treated by refs - for example our player is injured and the ref plays on, whereas theirs goes down for no reason and play is stopped (the implication being this only happens to us - the conspiracy). I accept this is merely shit reffing, but to think it only happens to us would be one-eyed.

My view is that refs have far too much say about the rules and how they are interpreted. But to have that discussion one has to step away from 'not fair on Brighton'. And we have to accept that it isn't hilarious and somehow justified when a bad decision goes in our favour.

All this in mind.....I see little sign that the referees will be required to change. And indeed, with all the abuse they get, they can argue they are brave men and women to take on such an unwelcoming job.

I love De Zerbi.
Arteta complains about Lee Mason. He gets fired
We say - oh never mind these things happen and Brooks is back next game
Call out these imbecile refs - they might, might just actually think about a decision against us too.
Maybe calling out Howard Webb was a good thing too 👍👍
Top man Roberto.
Showing some balls 👏👏👏

The refs don’t seem to understand that some teams come for a point and will go down to get the trainer on. If we had scored an early goal it wouldn’t happen. The ref waived them back on immediately every time. If he waited a minute they would stop doing it. Adding time on is not enough as it is done to stop momentum. Why can’t refs understand this?

Based on his comments yesterday I’m not sure RDZ agrees that the Howard Webb appointment is going to help!

To be fair, at least Howard Webb was trying to do things right….

Is the ref allowed to wait a minute or two (or for the length time the player was recieving treatment and stopped play)?

I don't know the answer but suggest it's a hard 'no'.

Well he needs to make his mind up as last week he said refs make mistakes same as managers and players. So they’re either to blame , or not 🤷🏻‍♂️
