Hushed, reverential voices on BBC breaking news report. Urgghh, this is going to go on for days. And days, and days. Apologies to Queen fans, no disrespec' intended.

With long pauses between each word to give every word gravitas.

625 days from taking the longest reigning monarch crown. As soon as the atmosphere in the Commons went weird it could only be one thing

Indeed, let's hope this thread can stay dignified. I'm no great royalist but this is a very very special woman we're talking about.

Quite. I'm much the same.

If nothing else, regardless of station or opinion, she is a mother, a grandmother, a great-grandmother and this will be affecting her family in terrible ways.

If the worst happens, I hope the usual suspects don't crawl out from under their NSC stones to share their lack of respect or whatever snarky anti Royal thoughts they may have.

People are of course free to comment as they see fit within moderator reason, although outré comments in circumstances like these often say far more about the individual than their opinions.

One would hope that regardless of what one's views on the monarchy are, a degree of decorum might be retained.

We are, after all, talking about a human life that is in all likelihood nearing its end.

And the same would be true for all that have lived well, regardless of status.

Need her to hang on until Saturday. National day of mourning and funeral is 9 days after her passing. If she goes today or tomorrow that'll be a weekend and we won't get a day off (return on investment as such)

FFS!!

EDIT: just to be clear … my ‘FFS’ was aimed at the pathetic comment from Soton Seagull … not the fact the funeral might be on a weekend!

Just said the same thing in the office.

Had a few jaws open wide.

But, I still respect her, even if I don't agree with the monarchy.
