Never mind all that - I'd just done an incredibly funny and original Peter Purves joke and I realise it was done on the very first page TWO years ago. I'm ashamed how late I am to this party.

I've seen this thread bouncing around the main board for the last couple of days and was dying to do a Peter Purves line, but the opportunity never quite presented itself. I now realise I obviously didn't go far enough back through the thread

"Second team" Nah sorry my first with that pratt in charge the only reason i want Southgate to do ok is. I don't want him to get the sack :dunky:

Without a shadow of doubt.

Southgate and The Harry's don't represent me at international football.

I'll be happily supporting all our representatives before I support England.
(Obvs all that goes out the window if someone at the FA wakes up)

This is why Cucu is so hard to replace like for like.

Cucu has the decision making of a £62m player, it’s world class. The best example of this is the home game against Manure. He played in the back 3 and was in defence when he was needed but also on the left wing or steaming into the box (scoring) when he needed to be. Because of this astonishing positioning ability, Trossard was able to play as a ‘false’ left wing back and was inevitably turning up as a No.10 and out flanking Manure almost constantly in the second half. They simply had no answer to what we were doing but Cucu in the LCB role was the key.

I suppose we have got Colwill to do that now, but I can’t see Pervis being anything like as good as Cucu at centre back (another known weakness is Perv’s aerial ability).

However, I am confident that we are going to see a very strong performer at LB and LWB, we’re just not getting a player who can play two positions at the same time but I suppose that’s why Cucu is £62m and Pervis is £15m ono.

How do you know he is not going to be as good as Cucu ? We buying him roughly the same price as Cucu , how do you know where he can play , and how many positions he can adapt to , have you ever seen him play ?

It's a fair bet he will be a lesser player than Cucu, I am hoping not by much, we only got Cucurella at a relatively low fee because he had that set as his buyout. Cucurella was like having an extra player on the pitch at times.

Nobody knows, of course - probably not even the recruitment team to the nth. detail, but given the unlikelihood of a like-for-like Cucurella just turning up, as a well thought out opinion it's a wowser!

Really ? Cucurella was with Chelsea for 5 days before it was announced. Even his medical seemed to drag over 2 days …

I'd imagine he and his agent are in the hotel waiting for the big boys to call. The newest cheapest trick in the book- reveal Brighton are interested.

That’s the spirit.

Yep, we’re now selling players before we even buy them.

Amazeballs.

Why don't we just sell a list of players we want to recruit and make money that way ?

A sort of consultancy ?

Did some swift profitable business with Darren Currie wayback, signed as a free agent in the summer, sold in the January for £300k I think, but even he got 20 odd games for us under his belt.

All joking and rival mockery aside, one thing is clear: on the whole, our recruitment has been absolutely sensational, working on multiple levels, recruiting youth/dev players for peanuts and selling for 5ish million a pop, recruiting bargain first teamers and on occasion returning a 70% profit... even with the odd dufffer it’s truly phenomenal stuff.

I tend to agree though, given the current market speed - let’s sell our list to the ‘big’ clubs... I can’t even get my home shirt printed with our latest star name before we’ve sold him ... lol.

I see he’s officially signed btw :)

More great work.
