Poyet also said he didn't think Man Utd would offer him the job, that's it's too big a step up and Man U would likely go for a manger with more experience higher up the league/more european experience. I think he's right.

Not convinced Man U fans would want 70% possession and no goals. Not the sort of stuff they have been brought up on. Potter still has a lot to prove in terms of coaching forwards and goalscoring before he becomes a proper candidate for a top side.

If United offer, he'll go. Anyone thinking that the pull of Manchester United has diminished to the point that the Brighton manager would turn them down is an absolute loon.

Don't get me wrong, there are a multitude of reasons as to why he should stay with us, but if United want a young English manager to work under Rangnick with a commitment to build over 4-5 transfer windows, then Man United will get their man.

Poyet has come out and said he should go...

(Yes, 9 days ago)

Poyet being a dick certainly isn't news.

Potter has zero experience of managing superstar players or a major team in Europe, and the huge expecatations that brings.

Would be a massive gamble for United and him. No chance, imo.

I have a mate who supports Man U and he says they are shithouse

Sorry - no chance GPot goes there. United are an absolute mess and aren't going to go for a lower mid table manager with a dreadful record at home.

Poyet trying to wind Barber up i think.

Yes, he'd probably go to Man Utd if offered the job.

But I'd be pretty surprised if he were offered the Man Utd job right now.

I would agree with that, but it would be the “with a commitment to build over 4-5 transfer windows” which would be the key factor rather than instant results.

Seeing as Potter does seem to get quite touchy at the small amounts of fan criticism he's had at the Albion and how he reacted to the smattering of boos I doubt he's currently cut out to lead a big team where fans have very high expectations.

I wouldn’t be surprised if a lot of that is because the performances relative to the resources at his disposal are pretty good (certainly undeserving of boos). He gets frustrated that some fans can’t see that we are doing well, relative to the playing budget.

If a manager can’t get a tune out of a squad backed by the resources at Man U (and given a reasonable amount of time), it could be considered more fair game to boo (though I’m not really one to boo my own side/player/manager/chairman/whatever, with the obvious exception of Archer, Bellotti et al)

The next Man Utd manager's first job would be to deal with the proliferation of billy big bollocks at the club. Is GP the man to do that? As BNthree points out he does seem to be a fairly sensitive soul and would he cut the mustard is dealing with all those egos? I'm not sure he would. Needs a Roy Keane type character to sort them out as they have descended into being a basketcase club (which I am greatly enjoying watching!!)

He is waiting for the England job, when Southgate fails again

I think you'll find that the vast majority of England fans are ecstatic at reaching a final and a semi final in the last two tournaments. It is seen as success not failure.

Personally I think he's a one trick pony with zero ability to change things around but he's doing a fantastic job for most England fans

Give Albion United's forwards and I think you might see a different outcome to most Albion games over the last couple of years

Peak Potter has passed.

We'd have contingency and it may actually work out better.

Like contingency for Ashworth, which meant quickly promoting our 'Loans Manager' (Which is now Gordon Greer) to 'Deputy Technical Director' when the Newcastle talks started and now 'Acting Technical Director' all within 6 months?

He'd probably have a budget a bit better than 5 lowest wages in the division to attract better players to be fair ....
