I hate Palarse
Anything by Junior Walker and the Allstars gets my vote.
Saw them live and they really got the place jumping.
I could’ve missed out altogether on the decade’s music, being just an infant in the late 60’s. But my Dad loved pop music, Radio 1, The Beatles, The Stones, The Who and so on. Passing that passion on to us kids.
Definitely a defining decade, where pop and rock was transformed in so many ways. Even the yanks admitted that Lennon, McCartney, Richards, Jagger were the catalyst, throwing out all the old conformities. Creative geniuses.
Love The Kinks (I’ve had run-ins with a NSC’er, who always appears, to slag off their song writing and everything else). Unique, talented, memorable.
I loved this song until recent years
That’s a great song, but “Ain’t too proud to beg” is better.
But the Yanks were the source of the material that the Beatles/Stones/Who covered in the UK when they started off, namely R&B, Motown, Stax, etc
