He's definitely infront of the defenders. It's whether or not he's infront of the ball that matters.

This. The direction the ball is played is irrelevant. A player has to be ahead of the ball to be offside, and it looks to me in that picture that he is behind the ball.

Is it still part of the law that if a part of the player's body they can legally touch the ball with is in front of the ball or covering defender when the ball is played then they are offside? Just saying because his head looks to be in front of his left foot.

His head's behind too, I just drew another line in paint and it was quite a way behind. Can't be bothered to upload another photo though.

Yes that is still the law, but I don't agree his head is further forward than his foot, and not ahead of the ball.

:lol: This.

If the player is behind the ball when it's passed it's not offside, even if the pass is forward. Being infront of the defenders doesn't matter in this instance either.

Nice to see you had the decency to explain rather than Papa being down right rude with no explanation, poor form.
@papa_Lazarou
Are you saying because Barnes was behind the ball he can't be offside ?

He did say ' but is he ahead of the ball' to be fair..

If (as in the first diagram) the ball is closer to the goal than the last defender when Lopez plays it, surely the offside trap has already been sprung and Barnes is onside?

Offside.
In front of the ball.
