Alan Mullery for Chris Cattlin...
Hadn't lived in Brighton long with no strong bond to the club but was so outraged went on a march
I can still picture the “Bedson Out” spray painted banners.

The useless Stains manager is giving him a run for his money this season. Can anyone top Leicester City and Ruud? Or even get close?
Adams 2 was awful.Yeh still never understood getting rid of Wilkins, who was doing a decent if unspectacular job in difficult circumstances and replacing him with Adams
Russell Martin for Ivan Juric?
I feel like Knight wanted a romantic, nostalgia boost and for Adams to be managing us for the first Amex seasonAdams 2 was awful.
Lacklustre, hoof ball
Wilkins was a Brighton man and he was doing a pretty decent job considering the circumstances, no way did he deserve or did performances justify him being sacked.I feel like Knight wanted a romantic, nostalgia boost and for Adams to be managing us for the first Amex season
In hindsight it was a diabolical move really and unfortunately made him look very out of touch
Not saying Wilkins was doing an incredible job but he definitely could have held the job until Blooms money came in (in my opinion anyway)
I'm not going into details but Wilkins did deserve to be sacked.Wilkins was a Brighton man and he was doing a pretty decent job considering the circumstances, no way did he deserve or did performances justify him being sacked.
Agreed it was Knights heart over head and it was both a terrible decision and very unfair on a great Albion servant.
The best best record of any England manager: Played one won one.Allardyce to The Three Lions.
They should have held their nerve and given him a full season, it was fun looking on from here.Frank De Boer - Palace
Circumstances old boy, Dick was going to rock the football world with a 6pm press conference at The Grand Hotel to unveil a genuine 'wow' appointment, who promptly pulled out in the afternoon, hence the Chairman's phone call to MH around 4.30.Hinsh at Withdean?
Was going to be that (German?) guy with the Lion King head of hair fresh from the World Cup wasn't it? Fair play to Hinsh obviously for filling in at very short notice. But even so...Circumstances old boy, Dick was going to rock the football world with a 6pm press conference at The Grand Hotel to unveil a genuine 'wow' appointment, who promptly pulled out in the afternoon, hence the Chairman's phone call to MH around 4.30.
Two huge factors that summer.
All credit to Peter Taylor for going when he did, he could have collected at least two months money before saying on the eve of the season what he did back in May.
We will never know how Hinsh would have fared that season, if him and Bob had a full pre season, very fine margins, even in the run of straight defeats.
Undoubtedly this one. The absolute risk of appointing a yes man following an ownership change and with the club trying to disguise the beginning of a process of asset stripping. They made noises about signing Ronaldinho (considered among the best in the world at the time https://www.theguardian.com/football/2011/jan/04/ronaldinho-david-beckham-blackburn-steve-kean). Almost all of the others are legitimate people trying their best but unfortunately failing. When you look at the points per game and consider the squad they had at appointment comparatively to others it's shocking: https://www.football365.com/news/10-worst-premier-league-managers-all-time-parker-mccarthy. The element of deception makes Kean the worst, and the fans called him out and hated him for it.Blackburn replacing Sam Allardyce with Steve Kean. I've talked with a player he had at the time and for me there's no doubt the PL has never had a worse manager.
Can you expand please. Have always thought Wilkins had created a decent team out of the waif and strays of Sussex.I'm not going into details but Wilkins did deserve to be sacked.
It was a mistake to get Micky back.
We finished 7th in League One, 2007-2008. I seem to remember that was fairly well received, under the circumstances(blooding youngsters on a regular basis). Can you expand please. Have always thought Wilkins had created a decent team out of the waif and strays of Sussex.
