I love Palace's optimism.

1. Finish 17th playing utterly shit football.
2. Sell best players, bring in worse ones to replace.
3. Success.

We replace young players with other young players, and you're linked with 35 year old "legends" :ffsparr:

I will give you that, The Academy system at Palace is working very well. When do you find out about tier1 status?

As said before, our youth system has served us pretty well despite having no real backing in recent years.

Virgo - £1.5m to Celtic
Harding - Leeds and Saints
Hammond - Saints captain
Lynch - in Wales squad
El-Abd - over 250 appearances for us and now an Egypt International
Dunk - wanted by Prem teams
JFC - England U18
Hall - wanted by Spurs

Not too bad when you think about it and compare it to Palace's products from their set up. Just imagine how good we'll be when we actually have an academy.

.. and Gareth Barry isn't too shabby.

What on earth makes you think we're bringing in worse players? We've got a £5m transfer budget before any profit from player sales.

7mil for Zaha? Zahahahahhahahahhahah.

WTF?

BBC Sport - Wilfried Zaha: Bolton offer £7m for Crystal Palace winger
BBC Sport - Wilfried Zaha: Bolton offer £7m for Crystal Palace winger

Here it is, four times just so you can see it. It's not me making it up, it's a BBC report :)

One of the quotes from Owen Coyle in there is nice too "He is such a talented young player and he will get better - there is scope for improvement. He has got pace and unbelievable quality and natural attributes."

Oh my f***ing christ :lolol: :ffsparr:

Yeah, also we're buying France, bringing it over and making it into a massive training facility.

Steve Parish confirmed it at this years fans forum. £10m over two years in transfers.

Not quite sure why you're shocked - as a club Palace have always had a lot more money than you apart from the last two or three years. Then again we've always been a lot more successful too.

The £5M is from player sales  £3M for Winifred and £2M (tribunal) for Clyne. With FFP coming in it is likely that £5M will be the total allowed for players wages based on income streams at Smellhurst.

For the seventy-fourth time... We've already rejected £7m for Zaha. Why would we accept less than half of that?

Also you don't understand FPP. It has not been fully implemented yet and it works differently in the FL than it does in the Premiership. We have two years of investment left before it is being heavily restricted. Even when it is, we will still take more money than half of the clubs in this league.

I highly doubt that Palace have £5 million to spend after posting losses of over £5 million last year. But fair enough, believe what you want.

In the last season we won't have lost money at all. We would have lost around £3m, but after the Clyne fee (we haven't sold him, he is signing a new contract with United/Newcastle) and the money from the cup run (over £1m) we would have broken even comfortably.

It's not inside information when your chairmen tell thousands of people on a public website. JAT.
