So, there are 34 players who have scored at least 100 Premier League goals.

Danny is currently on 77 goals, so 23 short - maybe 2 more full seasons would put him very close. Does he have enough in the tank to last that long at this level?

Player Goals
Alan Shearer 260
Harry Kane 213
Wayne Rooney 208
Andy Cole 187
Mohamed Salah 186
Sergio Agüero 184
Frank Lampard 177
Thierry Henry 175
Robbie Fowler 163
Jermain Defoe 162
Michael Owen 150
Les Ferdinand[ 149
Teddy Sheringham 146
Jamie Vardy 145
Robin van Persie 144
Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink 127
Son Heung-min 127
Robbie Keane 126
Nicolas Anelka 125
Dwight Yorke 123
Raheem Sterling 123
Romelu Lukaku 121
Steven Gerrard 120

No chance. He 's just had an excellent season, but he averages less than FIVE goals per season, across his PL career.

Not a chance he goes on long enough to reach 100, IMO.

Two more seasons might put him close but depends on him continuing this season’s goalscoring form. If he reverts back to 6 goals a season then he needs 4 more seasons.

No. Suspect he won't get many more next season and that will be that.

Do you have the list all the way down to Danny? Would be interesting to see how quickly he can climb.

This. He's 34 and we've just signed two of the most exciting young strikers in Europe. There is no way he's going to play enough games to get another 23 with his scoring record unless he suddenly becomes as prolific as Haaland.

And as much as I love Danny, its really not great for the club to over rely on an injury prone striker in his mid 30s to be leading the line week in week out if we want to build on the successes of last season. He's going to be more of a squad player going forward than we've seen previously.

Next season makes or breaks that idea. If he got 10+ goals next season (entirely possible if you give him pens) then that might give him the motivation to go again the following year to hit 100. But if it becomes a 5-6 goal season then no he wont do it. Overall i'd say its unlikely, but if he stays fit and gets penalty duties then who knows.

Absolutely love Danny, and his all-round game. But can't argue with this. Add in that there were a few occasions last season when his acceleration wasn't quite what it was. Ageing can be cruel.

He isn’t injury prone and hasn’t been since surgery in 2022. In the last 3 seasons he’s played almost 75% of our Premier League games and mins wise last season was the most he’s ever spent on the pitch. In fact the last 3 seasons are 3 of his best 4 seasons ever mins wise, only his 11/12 season (when he was 21/22) at Man United is as good.

He might need his mins managing more in the future but at the moment he’s the fittest he’s ever been in his career, with all the injury problems the club have had over the last few seasons it’s a remarkable testament to the bloke that he’s got himself into the best form and fitness of his career.

Footballing wise we look better with him playing than not. His ability to read the game, come back into midfield and receive the ball and link up with the likes of Joao Pedro, Mitoma and Georginio cannot be over stated. These two new Greek kids look great but it will take time for them to understand the game and their roles like Danny does, hopefully they’ll learn from him quickly.

I don't disagree with much of this, especially the last paragraph, though I'd argue that he missed 5 games with reported injury and didn't appear in the squad for an additional 3 last season. The season before he was absent for our 4 group game wins in Europe and an additional 7 league games during that period. Maybe that's not injury prone, but it's certainly not injury free since the surgery in 2022.

He's class and I am not trying to put him down but we just cannot be serious about relying on him as the main option going forward - he's in the last year of his contract and I'd be genuinely (and pleasantly) surprised if he stayed at the club after that in a playing capacity. He's obviously fabulous both on and off the pitch and he'll be invaluable to the youngsters next season but he's at the tail end of his career and will probably become more of a squad player to manage his fitness and availability next season.

Not that bothered; his overall effort and contribution to the team is world class. Absolutely love when the starting line up includes DW.

Thinking about it a bit more, he could get very close. Tzimas is young, so wont be expected to start every game. Evan is off form, so who knows if he'll play. Pedro may be off. Kostoulas is young and will play more as a number 10 i'd think, as will Georginio. So there's every chance Danny will continue to play heavily as the number 9 this year, which he deserves to after last seasons success. With that in mind, and he may well take over penalty duties, he could very well be at 90 goals or near enough by this time next year. And at that point its whether he has another season or two in him to tick off the final 10. Lots of ifs and buts, but he COULD do it. & that would be great to see in an Albion shirt.
