Burgess Hoping To Start

Ben Burgess is hoping his goal in the Carling Cup in midweek will be enough to earn himself another place in the starting line up against Coventry on Saturday.

It was Burgess' first goal of the season and the striker, who has suffered a terrible run of injuries during the last couple of years, will be looking for more goals against the Sky Blues.

"It was great to score in midweek and I don't think there is a better feeling. It was a great cross from Ryan France and it was nice to be back on the scoresheet.

"The gaffer has probably been sick of me because I complain everytime I'm not in the team.

"I want to start and he gave me my chance on Tuesday and I scored, so I'm happy with that."

Burgess knows that the best way to put his case to the manager is by scoring goals and he hopes he might get another opportunity this weekend.

"Scoring goals is what I am paid to do and it is what strikers should do.

"Hopefully the goal might have given the manager a nudge because I want to start every game.

"But that is up to the manager and I can only do my bit when I get a chance and in training."

Burgess is expecting a tough game against Coventry and says they have some good strikers of their own.

"We're looking forward to the game because results have picked up for us recently.

"We got a good point at Ipswich and then obviously we won in the League Cup in midweek.

"It should be a good game and Coventry are a good side. They have some good players with Stern John and Dele Adebola up front.

"It will be tough but hopefully we can win."

With the game being played at the KC Stadium, Burgess sees it as the perfect opportunity for his side to claim their first league win of the season ahead of the international break.

"It would be great to get our first win of the season in front of our own fans.

"They have been excellent this season and they have travelled away in big numbers. Hopefully we can do it for them."

Looks like it's not going to happen now :nono: :nono:
