My guess: he'll sign, and then prove to be shit.

Definitely not shit but could be in the Kitson, Dodd mode certainly. Surely the club will be more thorough with the medical this time, in the unlikely event that he opts to come here

Found it interesting that in one of those threads they blame the fact they have a worse ground than Withers for him not going to them.

Ben Burgess' Hull City future has been thrown into further doubt after he was left out of the reserve squad to face Lincoln City.

The 24-year-old was initially named in the starting line-up, but he was nowhere to be seen as his place was eventually taken by veteran striker Carl Asaba.

Burgess has played just 46 minutes from the bench in City's three defeats to start the season as speculation links him with a move to Brighton or Blackpool.

Asked if Burgess was still in his plans, manager Phil Parkinson said: "Ben's worked hard in pre-season and he still has some work to go.

"He has been out a long time and we're assessing things all the time.

"The only reason Ben didn't play was because he wasn't selected to play.

"We have had inquiries about him but at the moment he's still a Hull City player.

"And the first person to know about that will be Ben Burgess rather than the papers."

A good crowd turned out to see Mark Yeates make his first appearance in a Hull City shirt.

And the loan signing impressed as the match went on. He showed his versatility by popping up on both wings and linked well with the strikers.

Parkinson, who had Yeates on loan at Colchester last season, was impressed with what he saw and didn't rule him out of Saturday's trip to Ipswich.

"We'll assess him in the next day or so," Parkinson told the Mail.

"He's quite a long way behind the rest of the squad in terms of fitness, but that didn't look too much of a problem against Lincoln.

"I was pleased with his performance.

"It was his first time on the pitch because of his shoulder injury.

"As the game went on we saw more of what he can do.

"If he stays out wide and we can get good service to him, he'll cause problems on either wing."

City ran out easy 3-0 winners against a very youthful Lincoln City side.

Jack Cotton's own goal gave City the lead mid-way through the first half. Despite further chances, City couldn't extend their lead before half-time.

City, who started with Keith Andrews, Mark Lynch, Russell Fry, Alton Thelwell and man-of-the-match Stuart Green, dominated after the break.

Yeates crashed a long range volley off the bar to show City supporters what he's capable of.

Defender Michael Byron scored a superb second in the 75th minute after Andrews and Green combined well from a corner.

Ten minutes from time, Andrews played a one-two with Nicky Featherstone before curling the ball round Ayden Duffy in the Lincoln goal.

No I really do think he could prove to be utter gash.

I remember him destroying us at Griffin Park when we went on to win the title. The big worry to me is that he's been injured for a lot of the last two seasons.

Still, beggers can't be choosers can they ?

Indeed not, Frank. It is worth remembering that the first Brentford 4-0 was YEARS ago now, and now Burgess can't get a game for a side that has lost it's first three in the Championship, and is apparently injury prone.

I think I'd rather get a hungry youth loan signing in to be honest.

Well Hull fans still rate him but as I say he's had two injury plagued seasons which does raise the spectre of Kiston and Dodds but we're getting nowhere with any other strikers are we ?

Seeing as Brizzle Rovers have turned down £300,000 for Agogo we'll have to take what we can get and hope for the best.

Scored against us last season up there as well. If he is injury free I think he is exactly the type of player we need. Needs to sign before either of us can be proved right or wrong and I'm not holding my breath, too many disappointments on prospective signings :)
