Excellent individual performance by Jakey on Saturday, superb team performance, that is what I would prefer to concentrate on.

the Realist said:What we have to remember is the hype that met Jake a few years back when he burst onto the scene.
Did that affect Jake in any way? He has flat-lined for three years whereas others who he was way ahead of (like Coxy for example) have matured, caught him up and, dare I say it, overtaken him.
It's taken him over three years to develop to the point where he finally looks like he might reach that potential.
My take on this is that Wilkins doesn't want another load of media hype to affect Jake to the point where his development stutters once again.
Wilkins was instrumental in the development of Jake ... he then lost him for three years, during which time Jake failed to progress. Now he's got him again Jake is progressing again.
Coincidence?

"I've bided my time. Sometimes I didn't deserve to be playing but I've strengthened up. I've always been a good finisher, you should see me in training. I'm fantastic at scoring goals"
just had me raising an eyebrow, because he's talking as though he's cracked it. Yes, he's hit a nice little purple patch of goals, and long may it continue. But as well all know, it doesn't take a lot for the Hype Machine to click into overdrive, and I'd rather Jake didn't get too carried away with his current flush of form. I'm happy at how Wendy ISN'T going overboard on Jakes performances, thats all.

Easy 10 said:Well The Argus has already started comparing him with Zamora, and when Jakes been asked about whether he can repeat Bobs scoring expoloits, he's not slow in coming forward going by this interview....
"It's definitely possible," Robinson declared. "I've bided my time. Sometimes I didn't deserve to be playing but I've strengthened up. I've always been a good finisher, you should see me in training. I'm fantastic at scoring goals but with the team playing like they did I can't do anything wrong really. I'm getting the chances and I've just got to be there to put them away."
Confidence is obviously a good thing, but I think Deano is playing it just right by not going overboard with his praise for Jake. From what Robinsons coming out with, here, I think he needs to calm down a bit, concentrate on his own game, and not get carried away trying to emulate a former Albion legend.
Turkey said:To be fair, the Zamora thing was obviously a question thrown at him. You can only blame the media for getting carried away in that respect.
As for having faith in his own ability. Good. Do you want a striker going out there thinking 'Oooo I'm not very good at this scoring lark'? Course not, you want someone out their with the confidence to hit the back of the net time and time again.
BensGrandad said:Could this upsurge in JR form not be due to the fact that we are now playing to his strengths putting the ball intoa space for him to run on to asd opposed to long high balls fora 6ft 6 in centre forward to chase. Who is responsible for this change DW. Well done to all keep it going.
NMH said:I only wonder why it took so long to realise the obvious. Playing hoofs over the top to midget forwards, playing lads in positions they weren't comfortable with?
Even DW seems to have carried on the Magoo tactics for a while, you'd have thought he would've changed things right away.
robinsons had his go and not progressed we need as striker and midfield ball winner quikly adams tactiks at home are crap
wonder what dk says now also about steven hunt who he refused to pay 5k for and iwelhoumo who he reduced his wages and let him go
