Why is the Archbishop of Canterbury sticking his oar in?

Of course he has a right to say something on this issue. He represents a significant body of people most of whom I guess pay their taxes and contribute to the good of a wider society so he should provide input to issues which are central to the economic debate that is currently ongoing in this country and across the globe. Are his views right? In my opinion they are not but he has the right to express them as does every anti church individual.
