Brighton
Scottish clubs' chances not rated then?
Are any in the Europa League qualifiers? None are in the group stage automatically.

My understanding (not researched currently) is that they are all in the Europa Conference except Celtic and Rangers who are trying to qualify for the Champions League. If they fail, they end up in the Europa League?

Yep, you're completely right except Celtic have already qualified for the Champions League group stage.
Therefore Brighton can only face them in the Europa League if Celtic finish 3rd in their CL group and we progress to the knockout stage by getting 1st/2nd in our EL group.

Whereas for Rangers, they are indeed trying to qualify for the Champions League group stage however if they lose either their 3QR match or play-off (4QR) match then they will end up in the Europa League group stage, with us.

Oh, and there is also Aberdeen (mentioned by @Joey Jo Jo Jr. Shabadoo) who are in the Europa League play-off round.

Quite possibly - didn't do any research, jusr assumed there would be a Scottish side in the Europa League qualiers.

Aberdeen are in the Europa League play off round. Win that and they will be in the group stage. Lose and they drop into the group stages of the Conference League.

...................but not in that list of 'expected' teams - somebody somewhere thinks they'll be going out!
I was correcting the fact that a couple of posters had said there was no Scottish team in the Europa League qualifying.

Just because they don’t appear on the expected teams list which appears to be based solely on UEFA rankings means nothing. There is no point paying too much attention to the list as anything more than a guide. There are far too many variables in play across two competitions to make it mean anything more than an educated guess

The first legs of the 2023-24 Champions League second qualifying round have been completed, so let's have a look at the scores:
Screenshot 2023-07-26 21.56.26.png

Some hefty results, such as Aris Limassol's (Cyprus) 6-2 home win against BATE Borisov (Belarus), they will feel confident in the second leg with that lead.
Additionally, Dinamo Zagreb (Croatia) beat Astana (Kazakhstan) 4-0 at home so will also have a huge advantage in the second leg, and will hope to progress.

Another team worth a mention is KI Klaksvik (Faroe Islands) who upset Ferencvaros (Hungary) 3-0 on aggregate in the last round. They drew 0-0 to BK Hacken (Sweden) at home today, and therefore will want to repeat a 3-0 away win in the second leg, just like they did against the Hungarian champions.

Reminder that:
Both winners and losers of this round could potentially play us in the Europa League.

I'm back after a relaxing break so let's look at what I've missed whilst I was away:
Firstly, the second legs of the Champions League second qualifying round were completed...
Screenshot 2023-08-07 18.53.53.png

Another surprise win for giant-killers KI Klaksvik (Faroe Islands) as they defeat BK Hacken (Sweden) 4-3 on penalties after an entertaining 3-3 draw.
Also, Aris Limassol (Cyprus) thrashed BATE Borisov (Belarus) 11-5 on aggregate, winning 5-3 away in the second leg - that is an average of 8 goals per game!
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
So the Champions League third qualifying round looks like this...

Screenshot 2023-08-07 19.01.20.png

This stage features the winners of the Champions League second qualifying round (e.g. Galatasaray, Turkey) and some new names, such as Rangers (Scotland) and PSV Eindhoven (France) who will start their quest to qualify for the 2023-24 Champions League this week - the first legs are on the 8th/9th of August.

More information about this round is on post #31 of this thread.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Additionally, the Europa League third qualifying round will begin soon...
Screenshot 2023-08-07 19.07.36.png

This stage features the losers of the Champions League second qualifying round (e.g. Astana, Kazakhstan) and some new names, such as Olympiacos (Greece) and Slavia Prague (Czechia) who will start their quest to qualify for the 2023-24 Europa League - the first legs are on the 8th/10th of August.

More information about this round is on post #32 of this thread.

In addition, some draws took place today...

Firstly, there was the draw for the Champions League play-off round:
Screenshot 2023-08-07 19.17.33.png

Teams on the left play the first leg at home (22nd/23rd August) then the second leg away (29th/30th August).

The losers of this stage will be transferred to the Europa League groups.

The Champions League third qualifying round hasn't been played as of yet, so we don't know which 10 teams will join Young Boys (Switzerland) and Antwerp (Belgium) in this round.

More information here ➡️ https://www.uefa.com/uefachampionsleague/draws/

Secondly, I'll add today's draw for the Europa League play-off round to this post:
Screenshot 2023-08-07 19.25.17.png

Teams on the left play the first leg at home (24th August) then the second leg away (31st August).

The winners of this stage will advance to the Europa League groups.

Both the Champions League and Europa League third qualifying round haven't been played as of yet, so we don't know which 13 additional teams will be transferred to this round.

For those interested...
'MP' stands for Europa League 3QR Main Path; 'CH' stands for Europa League 3QR Champions Path; 'UCL Q3' stands for the Champions League third qualifying round.

More information here ➡️ https://www.uefa.com/uefaeuropaleague/draws/
That's all the draws finished, so now the final set of European matches can begin!

Screenshot 2023-08-10 12.20.13.png

Some great matches here, such as giant-killers KI Klaksvik (Faroe Islands) continuing their remarkable story with a 2-1 home win against Norwegian champions, Molde.

However, I'm most fascinated in those four games within the League Path as the losers will join Brighton in the Europa League group stage draw.
There is a possibility that Rangers and/or Marseille could be defeated as their ties will be decided on the 15th of August in the second leg.

You might have released that one result hasn't come through, between Dinamo Zagreb and AEK Athens, this is because of the tragic news that an AEK Athens fan was killed in a brawl between the two sets of supporters on Monday evening.
The game has subsequently been postponed with the first leg on the 15th August and second on the 19th August.
Here is BBC Sport's article of the incident for those interested - https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/66437694

Screenshot 2023-08-10 23.00.55.png

Great wins for Zrinjski Mostar (Bosnia & Herzegovina), Sheriff Tiraspol (Moldova) and Slavia Prague (Czechia) who have the largest advantages out of the lot.
If they win on aggregate, they will need to overcome the play-off round to reach the groups, whereas the losers will not be able to face us in the 2023-24 Europa League.
The second legs will be on the 17th of August

So do the LOSERS of tonight’s champions league qualifiers go into Europa?
Losers of Braga v TSC, Servette v Rangers, Sturm Graz v PSV and Marseille v Panathinaikos go straight into Europa League Group Stage. Losers of other Champions League ties go into the Europa League final qualifying round.

The losers of the League Path - Yes

The losers of the Champions Path - go into the Europa League Play Offs.
4 teams join us in the Group Stage. (results tonight)

Servette lost 3-2 on aggregate to Rangers (1-1)
TSC Backa Topla lost 7-1 on aggregate to Braga (1-4)
Sturm Graz lost 7-2 to PSV Eindhoven (1-3)

As I was typing this, Panathinaikos scored a 100th minute penalty away at Marseille to send the game to extra time 2-1 on the night to Marseille (2-2 on aggregate). The loser will join us in the groups.

We could play any of these teams, looks like none will be in Pot 3.

Rangers will play PSV, whislt Braga will play the winner of Marseille / Panathinaikos.

The losers of those games will join us in the Group Stages of the Europa League. The winners will advance to the Champions League.

Things really shaping up now then, 4 more teams into the group stage including a potential trip to ‘TSC’ of Backa Topola in Serbia - stadium capacity 4500…

In an amazing game, Marseille LOST 5-3 on penalties. They are now in the Europa League Group Stage and we could draw them.

Panathinaikos are though to the next UCL round and will play Braga.

Who's favourite out of Braga and Pana ? Both seem appealing. Topla in Serbia not so much 😆
