From a managerial point of view I'd totally agree. Tho he would be utterly destroyed by the media intrusion into his personal life and would crumble in about five minutes flat under that sustained pressure. The most intelligent homegrown manager by far, but can't see it ever happening sadly. Always welcome back at the Albion tho, IMHO.

Anyway more realistically lets go for someone who the players can relate to, who has been there and done it, and is English through and through, Alan Shearer, with possibly someone with more experience like Terry Venables to help him out.
Germany and Holland have done pretty well with similar set ups.

Bit of a long shot I know but can I put myself forward as the new England Manager?
I know nothing about Football at this level but that doesn't seem to have bothered the previous bloke.....
I am, however, rather skint at present and could do with the dosh when I get canned - I can promise you in advance that I will also fail abysmally but I'll do it for less than half of his payoff - lets say a round million?

Personally I would like to see Klinsmann - he's played here so knows what the passion is all about and he did a fair job with the Germans at the last World Cup. However i realise that some people can't see beyond the Nazis and think all Germans are the spawn of Adolf Hitler so perhaps he wouldn't be a very popular choice. Abramovich's millions have ensnared Guus Hiddink for the next few years so he's out

Plus the fact he ain't good enough.
We need somebody who has WON something, like the Champions League and/or the Premiership.

Lippi has won the World Cup which is better than either the Champions League or Premiership so he must be a better bet. Also Mouriniho has said many times that the England job is for an old man so perhaps when he is 60 he would consider managing a national team.
