Brighton & Hove Buses.
. employ poorly trained apes to drive their vehicles
. rarely on time
. buses smell like a gypsies armpit
. they allow chav rodents and homeless vagrants to use their vehicles
. the prices keep going up despite no improvement in service
. they cancel the journey if the bus is too late, which is f***ing ridiculous as it\'s their fault
. giant pictures of local gonks with totally wank quotations like \'I\'m 7 foot 2 and I find the bus soooo easy. It\'s great.\'

The Argus
. literally anything counts as news
. spelling and grammar mistakes everywhere, especially on the website
. some of their journalists are snivelling, soulless scum with no consideration for the fallout of their stories
. research is quite frankly laughable
. running stories that literally mean no news, such as \'no move for Gus by Premiership Big guns.\'

Poll to follow.

So when you say "Sussex" you actually mean "Brighton and Hove"

I've never had any real issues with either of them TBH, I'm sure there are far worse companies in Sussex taking advantage of vulnerable people.

Not a fan of The Argus but from my experience I find the busses to be rather good except for regular price hikes.

Brighton & Hove buses are operated by Go-Ahead Group, based in Newcastle, whilst The Argus is part of Newsquest, who are headquartered in Weybridge.

So I'm afraid neither really qualify as a Sussex company really

Given you say "in Sussex" that surely counts any company that trades in Sussex ? If so here's my list ( although it's probably not complete ! ) :

ANY Private Parking Company but G24 in particular
EDF Energy
Santander
BT
SportsDirect
The animal charity run by Trevor Weekes
Co-Op Supermarkets
Sky

Is that the road kill guy? Care to elaborate?

Weird thread though. I find it hard to agree that Brighton and Hove Buses (the model for many other city bus services in the country I understand) are that bad or indeed The Argus.

Local papers have bit hit very hard by the recession and the general change in trends regarding how and when news is reported. The trainee journos who once started on weekly local rags and aspired to work on a daily like the Argus are now invited straight into jobs on local dailies. Jobs (those that are left) once filled by senior reporters are now given to trainees or juniors. And with less news editors and subs, there's less resources to correct mistakes. On top of that you have the added demand for quick copy for the website. I'm not defending the poor standard but it really isbn't just the Argus which, despite all the moaning, most still read every day - via the website at least.

According to his website he specialises in rescuing hedgehogs. My partner found an injured hedgehog in our garden and phoned his charity. The persons attitude was both rude and patronising. My partner was asked if she could take the hedgehog to them and she said no for a number of reasons. The answer - well there's nothing we can do then !!!!! My partner took the hedgehog around the corner to the local vets who cared for it and eventually put it to sleep - all free of charge. Trevor only cares if he gets his name in the Argus it would seem !

It is a weird thread, but I quite like it.

I've got no particular gripe with either. Use the buses alot and find them very good. They're pricey, but what isn't? The Argus is a typical local rag.

Find it hard to get het up about either but I think it's very funny that someone does.

Newsquest is owned by Gannett, an American company.

As I mentioned in the 'Spoons thread, I'd go for their West Quay premises as being incredibly poorly run. Too few underpaid overworked staff unable to cope with demand, go there on a Sunday lunchtime at 12.30 and watch the ensuing chaos. It's not the staffs fault but managements for trying to wing it and cut staff costs.
