I've got no idea how anyone can pick Heskey over Zamora.

Easy, you can take 5 strikers!

Besides, whilst I have selected both Heskey and Zamora, hand on heart tells me that Heskey will get the edge unless Zamora plays a blinder in any of the friendlies. Heskey may not score a lot of goals but he does link up well with Rooney so that is an effective partnership as far as England is concerned. Still, remember 66. Before the world cup Greaves was the first choice striker!

Indeed, but I'm not sure you can take three target men in Crouch, Heskey and Zamora. I think two of the three is the most likely option.

All we can ask is that Bobby gets a chance in one of the friendlies and then puts on a show.

WILL start against USA:

Rooney
Heskey

Also defo in squad:

Defoe

So only one spot up for grabs (I reckon he'll take 4, controversially). I hope Zamora gets it. If five, take Crouch as well.

So for those of you who aren't choosing Bent...

Why aren't you choosing a player who has scored only four less goals than Rooney in the Premiership this season whilst playing for SUNDERLAND?

Rooney, Crouch, Defoe and Heskey, Walcott will go as a fifth striker/ wide player if aaron lennon is fit or Joe Cole finds some form. Zamora will only go if Joe Cole or Lennon miss out as, Walcott will then be picked indefinitely as a midfielder.

It would be madness not to take 5 strikers.

The inclusion of Milner and a returning to form Joe Cole should see to that both can play either side in midfield. Plus that Gerrard also covers a variety of midfield roles.

He won't take five - it just isn't going to happen. Gerrard and Milner can both cover in the hole behind Rooney and if Rooney and Defoe get injured, then Walcott can cover.

Just to be awkward - reason for not taking Zamora

He has an interesting career pattern in that his best phases seem to come when he is playing twice a week. He really seems to thrive on this. Where he has been asked to perform a bit part role specifically at Spurs and West Ham, but also in the period when he was supporting that diving cheat at Fulham, he has not been as effective.

So in summary I think he deserves to go, based on current form, but would suggest that there are better impact players to fill a backup striker role.

In this order:
Rooney
Heskey
Crouch
Defoe
Zamora/Cole
I think Cappello seems to prefer Carlton Cole for some strange reason. Eventhough my heart says Bobby will be in with a shout my head is saying Cappello will take Cole.

Lots of people seem to be including Heskey Crouch and Zamora/Cole

I really dont see the point of taking 3 big men as it were in 5.

Its pretty obvious i hope that Rooney, Defoe and Crounch will be the first 3

So in my opinion the fnal 2 positions should go to the form men if required.
Thefore it has to be Bent and Zamora, both offer something diferent to Heskey and Cole. Bent is a finisher and goalscorer, and Zamora is bang in form and left footed.

Agree totally with that five and reasons for them. Rooney, Defoe and Crouch should be definites, and then two from five. I agree about not needing three big men as well.

Form has to be a factor, and whatever Heskey has done in the past he's had a poor season. Cole cannot be considered on that same basis, so it's between Agbonlahor, Bent and Zamora and I'd go for the last two.
