7 for me. There's so many great things about where we are rn and the Boscagli signing is massive, but the feeling we are about to be pillaged again is looming...

Here (below) is our final league positions since I started going. What sort of score would you be giving from 83 to 2016?10 would be winning a major trophy, 9 would be a final and/or champions league qualification. So with the optimism of what could be tomorrow and beyond I have gone 8. On a less optimistic day it could easily be a 7.
FWIW I don't think I have dropped below a 6 this season, and only then after the Forest debacle.
We are doing pretty well.

Our league position at times means the mojo must have been down to negative number, plus we also won the square root of f*** all, and this presumably means the mojo could be measured in imaginary numbers ( a function of the square root of -1).
Yes, I accept that recency bias may justify a sigmoid scale where the amount of extra mojo felt at the top (and lost down at the bottom) is disproportionately lower than actual change in achievement, and that all the big mojo shift is when the hope is killing you as we bounce around between tiers 2 and 3.
But I'm more inclined towards a log scale. The Euphoria of 6th and a European away day, and a Wembley semi final are hard to top. The extra buzz from chasing a Europa League place has pharmaceutically less impact. But, frankly, that's biology for you. So it is hard to drop below around 9
Which is why I raise an eyebrow at those who think this season is just a 7. A few more years of top ten finishes and I can see tens of thousands of current Albion fans walking off the job, muttering about mediocrity and lack of ambition. Sad really, because even Manchester United can count on 70 odd thousand turning up to support rather than just to tut. And Manchester United are not even a proper football club.

Good post, but the counter argument will always be that you can’t continue reflect on history, other than to learn from failures. The whole ‘look where we were’, is immaterial, other than we should be thankful to those past and present who did so much to save the club. Here (below) is our final league positions since I started going. This is spot on and echoes my feelings too. I’ve been going to the Albion since I was a kid in 1976 so have experienced all the ups and downs - was at the cup final in 83 and at Hereford in 97. While I will never forget where we’ve come from I don’t subscribe to the constant view from some that ‘we’ve become entitled and forgotten where we’ve come from’ when expressing extreme disappointment in results and performances. That view for me suggests that people are still happy to just settle for mid table security because of our past history. But TB has raised the clubs and my expectations by openly declaring that he wants silverware and for more European qualification - so my mojo and expectations is now on a new higher scale and driven by Tony’s ambitions and no longer based on where we’ve come from. If that is what TB is aiming for then that is the level I want us to now be performing to - we have to keep aiming higher otherwise we’d be in danger of slipping backwards.Good post, but the counter argument will always be that you can’t continue reflect on history, other than to learn from failures. That period has gone. We are now I would say an established PL club, and should be looking forward. Our team now is clearly one of the best in our history and it is okay for supporters to be disappointed. I don’t begrudge any of those giving a ‘6’, because isn’t your ‘mojo’ a snapshot?
The comparison would be the most recent season(s). I think we could have done better and still voted 8….. mainly because I enjoyed Monday so much, if we lose at Spurs, I think the season will be a 6 or 7.
These are fair points, and I accept that I am promoting a counter argument to inject a bit of balance.Good post, but the counter argument will always be that you can’t continue reflect on history, other than to learn from failures. On that logic, the where we've come from etc etc it's 9/10 out of 10. But, in terms of this season, its 7 from me because we had the chance to win the cup and qualify for top 5. Just a few bad results when it really mattered/the pressure big games that we just couldn't do. I'm 58 and would love us to win a trophy like everyone else. It's a dream that is possible and it's Tony's dreams and hopes with where he's propelled us from. I seriously believe that next season we'll be better and challenging for Europe again perhaps taking that extra step with the experience gained from this season (Fabian's learning as well as our young crop of players improving). Keeping our big stars is important but I fear losing our Japanese winger if rumours are true. Here (below) is our final league positions since I started going. BUT we had some fecking memorable wins which were a bigger high, for me, than the shit performances (chucking points away) and messing up against shit teams were lowsOn that logic, the where we've come from etc etc it's 9/10 out of 10. While I accept that I tried to justify myself using logic, in truth mojo has nothing to do with logic. On that logic, the where we've come from etc etc it's 9/10 out of 10.
