Why is Lynch overrated? That was one of his worse games but in most others he has looked different class.Wilkins,so why are you not sure then?Is it because he isn't the big name manager you were hoping for?

Ahhh, so having an opinion you disagree with means I talk shit then. Nice

Lynch is a good player, yes. When I say Lynch is overrated, it's because people (on here in the main) keep talking about how destined he is for the Premiership. I don't think he's good enough. He was decent last season, and did a good job. But he wasn't that wonderful, and certainly struggled from time to time (in the same way the likes of Harding have). The Premiership is a much bigger challenge, and I'm not convinced that the coaching of even a world class manager would make him good enough to come up against Premiership sides. I'm willing to accept I'm wrong, and if he leaves for Blackburn in January and plays 15 games then i'll quite willingly accept that I UNDERRATED him. But currently, I don't think he stands out. McShane was better last season (at a higher level - which level is he playing at now?), and I think Hinshelwood is better also. That's my opinion, I don't think you're 'talking shit' If you rate Lynch higher than Hinsh.

Wilkins I didn't think was the right man because I believed we needed new faces to 'freshen the place up', and I didn't see Wilkins having the contacts that the likes of Coppell had in order to transform a pretty dire side.

As it turns out, Wilkins has largely turned us around with the existing squad! I'm not knocking that, but I'm not ENTIRELY convinced mainly because last time we lost a game, confidence was DESTROYED and we lost the next four. Now we've lost, I'll be interested to see how Wilkins get's the team playing next week. If we win, then fair enough, i'll have a lot less to doubt about the man!. If we turn in performances as we did against Blackpool in coming weeks, i'll be (understandably) concerned.

But clearly, you know better, and I'm talking shit simply because I am me:rolleyes:

Who has he Brought in,in a short space of time?

The Huddersfield away game was better then any of McGhee's two year reign matches. You have also seen two hatricks under Wilkins,Better fooball.A thrashing of a non league side.Under McGhee we hardly ever won by more then 1 goal.Lets see if Wilkins has fall outs shall we with players?;)
I agree with Lynch. Not sure about premiership class but deff Championship

See the word 'didn't'. The judgement Badger is referring too is the one I made after Wilkins appointment, and the view i've expressed after dissappointing defeats which have followed. Of course, I've been quiet on the Wilkins front in recent weeks, because, as you point out, we've been winning, and playing well! I'm not even sure why me having a cautious judgement is even an issue - he's winning me round, has my backing, but I don't expect as much from him as I would another manager who was available, such as Joe Royle (that's just an example of a name I said i'd prefer at the time of McGhee's sacking).

I'm not saying McGhee shouldn't have been sacked either! I just felt, to make it worthwhile, we needed a new face in. McGhee cocked up the dressing room morale with all the petty falling outs, and I was convinced that someone else would have to resolve this. I'm wrong, and Wilkins has done a grand job in maintaining team spirit. He's yet to prove that he can sort the morale out after a defeat, but give him time, and hopefully he will. After that, I suspect he'll have my faith.

And yeah, you agree with me about Lynch. Clearly an 'absolutely shit' opinion then!

:)

The way you bang on about Lynch you make him sound worse then Mayo.If we finish 15th under Wilkins would you be happy?

You clearly didn't read the topic after the Bradford game when I argued with LI about how LYNCH quite obviously should play instead of Mayo then:rolleyes:

15th? No, i wouldn't be Happy. Content? Probably, on the basis that at least we haven't had a relegation scrap!

10th+, that's what I'm hoping for. Maybe my expectations are too high, and maybe that's why I keep getting accused of moaning too much, but that's honestly where I believe we can be. We're 12th now and not doing so badly, so I don't think tenth is that unrealistic! I really think we can be pushing for the play off places this year, but 10th would probably do me.:)

10th or 12th i would be happy and a good cup run.Hopefully winning the JPT.But as long as we stay up then we can progress further with the kids next season.Just don't think we quite have it to reach the Play-offs.Some of our players just need to fill out a bit more

Do you reckon a play off place is an unrealistic aim?

no. its so tight and i think that if we put today behind us and go on another run then we'll be ok. we've just got to make sure we continue to work as hard as alex revell's toothbrush!

I'm not sure you will speak to me Mr Butters, after the little disagreements I had with your good lady wife last season (although I do hope she has noticed I have eaten my words on here in the last few weeks!), but I would like to ask this: What has Wilkins got which has transformed our team from utter shambles into a competitive and often exciting outfit? Do you put our upturn in form down to the change of manager?

Obviously I'm not expecting you to comment on the previous manager, and it would be very wrong to, but I am genuinely interested in what Dean has changed which has had such an effect.

just made ourselves hard to beat(apart from today). defending from the front, and i think a lot of the players are coming into form at the right time. not a lot has changed on the training ground

Lynch is a class centre back and a very good player but he will make mistakes as he is still learning.

Maybe hius fittness level isnt what it could be thus the mistakes?

Hinsh and Lynch seemed to go for the same ball, no communication between the two, let in Greenacre to score. Really it was down to communication problems, not Lynch fault atall.
Sorry Kev, I'm going to have to pull you up on that.

When the ball got played up the line, Hinshelwood, feeling Lynch was about to miss the ball, clearly called for it. I heard it. For whatever reason, Lynch still jumped for it. Hinshelwood had a wider view of being able to make that call. He made it, and Lynch either didn't hear it or ignored it. Either way, most of the blame has to be pointed at him, I'm afraid.

But like with all the kids, he'll learn.

I heard a rumour that Lynch will be on his way to Newcastle for £1.1m in the January transfer window...that's why he signed an extension to his contract.

I hope the rumour is bollocks. Wilkins would see none of the money as it would go into "the Falmer black hole"
