WHATS THE BEST CITY IN ENGLAND?? (where its all going on)

Im quite sure most of you will say Brighton,But was just wondering where people think is the place to be?

My vote goes to Manchester. For the reasons shown below.

1) Cheap city living
2) Great shopping (city centre+trafford centre)
3) Amazing night out (including the best bar scene in uk)
4) Good transport links around city (metrolink and cheap taxis)
5) People are top
6) continued regeneration of city centre
7) low council tax rates

Accept not having a beach and the albion,Its got everything a person could need.

Although the weather is reminiscent of Swindon everyday (ie FREEZING!!!)

Most Cities have the downside as well as their up.
But Brighton is where I was born so can only vote for my home town.
Brighton born and bred and proud. !!

I would honestly vote Brighton, and yes I have been to the other cities. Why ?

1) It is by the sea
2) It is fantastic in the summer
3) Open minded people, gay, lesbian, bi, blue hair, 4 arms, doesnt matter in brighton !
4) great shops - the lanes are completley different to any other city.
5) Mixture of people from all over the world
6) fresh air

I also like Manchester and Nottingham but the fact that Brighton is by the sea pushes it in to the lead, cant think of a better place in England when the sun is shining. As for London, it would be in my least favourite

Brighton's ok but there ain't that great a choice of nightlife plus I'd disagree with those who say we live in this liberal, open minded culture as homophobic attacks seem to be on the increase.

Of course there are going to be a great deal of homophobic attacks because there is such a huge gay community - mathmatical common sense. What i meant was there are not many cities in the UK that two women could kiss openly in the street, two men holding hands or a man in a dress - try that in Portsmouth and see how far you get !

Its overpriced property is its main downfall!
