Not exactly new to me but am scoffing entire forests of fresh pineapple every day. It helps you to lose weight (boxers eat a lot of them, apparently) and my word do they keep you regular.

I have been trying Yakult for the last few days and it has turned my guts into something like West Beirut in the 1980s. Another day of this torment and I am abandoning the experiment

Not a discovery... but raspberries, straight from the garden... they never make it into the house! Yum :)

Carrot juice - no not the healthy stuff.

Mix a litre of carrot juice with freshly grated nutmeg, vanilla extract (not essence), a tin of Nestles condensed milk (ie sweetened full fat) and Jamaican overproof white rum to taste.

Can't believe that I'd never eaten hummus (how the hell do you spell that?) before this weekend, but it's lovely!

My vege mates had a party on Saturday night, so I assumed the food would be crap, but warm pittas, hummus and olives are the dogs bollocks with a few cans of Stella!

I am a recent convert to 'Harissa' which featured in this weekend's pevenseagull cricket/ beach picnic

slices of pain rustique/ ciabatta, lightly toasted. liberally spread with harissa, topped with goats cheese and grilled

Kalmata Olvies

Chicken livers sauteed in brandy

A vegetable and ricotta terrine

Piedmont peppers

Chargrilled asparagus spears wrapped in parma ham

A herb heavy green salad

Mushroom rissoto

and lots of dry white wine.

sorted

today I have made a chilled mushroom soup, which in due course will be finished off with fresh nutmeg and dry sherry.

there is also a ginger sponge layer cake with figs and banana and vanilla cream on the go - that's gonna be f***ing top drawer.
