Going on the basis of what most assistant managers do, I would expect his role to include coaching, tactical planning with Micky, bringing new ideas to the table both pre-match and during matches, dealing with the players on a personal and professional level, identifying new signings, as well as generally doing whatever Micky wants him to. I have no real idea how good he is at the player relations stuff (although the total disregard a few of the players, mainly Forster, have for him during matches is a clue), but tactically I think the man is a buffoon with no more idea than you or I. And as your next question will be what reason do I have for saying that, I will say now it's down to all the radio/seagulls world appearances he has made in his years here.

I would agree that in the first part of your analysis, those probably are his roles.

You didn't cover how his colleagues consider him (Forster has issues with everyone on the pitch).

However, to say that you can garner his tactical nous on the back of some two-bit interviews which he evidently doesn't seem comfortable with (his '99 times out of 10' line was a bit of a classic) - without actually talking to the man, talking to the players about the man, going to training to watch, or sitting in on player meetings does seem highly impressive and extremely insightful.

Clueless demanour? You're saying his body language, stance and/or gait highlights a tactical ignorance?

I think your talents are wasted on here.

To be fair to him, White was at the club last season when we were doing quite well.

Not saying he had a big part to play in it, but may be slightly harsh on him.

Yeah, I'm not going to write off his relationship with the players on the back of what Forster says to him during games. He might be the love of every albion player's life for all I know.

I do think tactically he's a joke though. I've stood behind him a few times. I remember standing behind him at Worthing this pre-season, and with it being a friendly every word is obviously heard by the crowd. Well, clueless doesn't even begin to cover it. Whether he's comfortable with interviews or not, he should be able to make decent points. He doesn't. He just waffles. You or I could do that without even ever having seen the albion play.

And you can make sarcastic comments all you like - the man DOES have an image problem. EVERY albion fan I've spoken to slates him. I've not found one saying "That Dean White's a fantastic assistant. We need more staff like him." He comes across as very non-league, standing there bellowing what appears to be incomprehensible noises at the players. I want someone with a bit more intelligence so that our superb manager reaches his very best.

If he were that crap, wouldn't our 'superb' manager get rid of him?

Is there actually anything that would make any of us stop supporting the albion?

You know what I mean, don't you? Actually go to the games. Even when we have been playing crap I was really looking forward to the Boxing Day game. And before that the MK Dons game.

Okay. If there is ONE thing I would definitely change...the food at Withdean. It's just disgusting. It's embarrassing. It's without doubt the worst I've ever seen at a footie game in the last 10 years.

Of course no-one says 'Dean White is great' etc, because, as has become painfully plain on here, hardly anyone knows how he carries out his duties. The only people you hear who make a judgement call on his worth are those slagging him off on here (and maybe in the real world too) when they don't know what he does.

I'm curious as to how ignorance of a given situation is the first and only requirement in being able to demand a sacking...

Tactically naive he may or may not be (but then you slagged off Dean Wilkins because he didn't agree with you), but your biggest gripe appears to be his IMAGE?

This continually baffles me too. I have no idea what his worth is, but many on NSC seemingly do. Can someone who has put 'Dean White' please explain his weaknesses?

Cheers.

Agree 100%. What the f*** do any of these idiots know about what Dean White does or doesn't do at the club? What is so different about him to any other Assistant Manager in this division? People are cretins.
