What is the best free pc security?

I've searched on here as I'm sure I have seen a thread on this befour, yet it came up with nothing. Anyway, my Mcfee has run out and I would rather not pay for it anymore as i thought it slowed my puter down somewhat.

I have done a Google but I dont trust anybody when it come to that sort of shit. Only will North Stand Chat keep away my fears.

Please help. Needs to be FREE.:yahoo:

Lavasoft and Spybot for spyware
Firewall depends whether you are Vista or XP

Linux is the best AV

But if your sticking with windows, AVG is good well known free one.

I've just started using is Avast on my sisters rig that seems pritty good so far.

A very good scanner that you should run along side your AV is malwarebytes

I've also herd people say Zone alarm Is a good firewall.

Zone Alarm used to be helpful, back in the days when I used a PC.

Only use Macs now (lights blue touchpaper and retires to watch resultant conflagration ...)

Always good to have a few options on your comp! Get Malwarebytes as the scanning aint the best on AVG. But still use AVG as you main AV. Just do the scanning with malware.

Cant go wrong with that, on the Zone Alarm note I've never really used it but a few poeple have told me it's a very good FW.
