Cars will have onscreen navigation for years to come...it won't be SatNav though. Android Auto is set to put Google Maps at the heart of vehicle navigation. The old SatNav technology will disappear.

And how will that work without satellites to navigate you.?....satnav

SatNavs work through a preloaded set of maps loaded into the hard drive of the device, and the gps simply places your position within those preloaded maps i.e. you can buy a UK SatNav, or Europe etc. That is essentially what a 'SatNav' is. You'd typically need to pay a subscription fee to have those maps updated through connecting to the internet at home, or you buy a fresh set of maps to upload to the satnav.

Android Auto, and smart devices don't do this, they have gps to mark your position, but the mapping is live data from the internet streamed into the device. Sometimes your position can be marked through the data alone. The GPS is still satellite navigation, but it is not a 'SatNav' as we have come to know it.
