I was not born a Brightonian or Hovonian, but spent the first year of my life in a humble bungalow in Patcham (on the A23 between Vale Avenue and the Braepool fields, down from the RSPCA centre). OK, I don't remember it, but there is only one club I could support. The club's recent history is inspirational. Even silly little things, like hearing Sussex by the Sea played at Lord's or seeing an Albion flag at an England cricket match brings a tear to my eyes. By the way, when I told a former colleague, who was a bit of a wag, that the place of my nurture was buried under the bypass flyover, his response was, "Well, that just goes to show something." With friends like that,...

I remember those houses nothing humble about them if they were still there.

I was born in London but moved to Sussex at the age of three and I thank my parents for the best move they ever made. There's never a dull moment. Brighton 'til I die.

Talking to somebody after the game on Sunday-he said that he was told that the club's trophy cabinet has been built big enough to display the European Cup/Champions League Cup...whatever it's called

How's that for a bit of optimism?

So much better than mid-table mediocrity ...... when was the last time we had a season when we weren't fighting for promotion or against relegation ....?

I would not have it any other way as a club we have a fab reputation and friends from other clubs all over the country. The most recent Wrexham. I'm pround to be a Brighton fan.

It was a small two bedroom bungalow called Whiteoaks, and Mum and Dad needed a fair bit of help from his Dad, as they had just got married, and Dad was doing teacher training at Falmer. It later became a used car office, and then went under the bulldozer. I think the other houses were a lot bigger though.

I'm not a Brightonian, or indeed a Hoveian. I was born in CUCKFIELD, and am proud to support my local team.

There are lots of dull moments as a Brighton fan, but they are just part of the drama of the overall story of our little club. Having watched them since '86 I would never have dreamed about the success we've had over the last four years, or the misery and torment of the years prior to that.

My Dad lost the faith in the latter years at the Goldstone, but I was proud that he came with me to Cardiff to witness live the first bit of Albion trophy success he's seen since the sixties (although I envy him having myself not seen the side of the '70s/early '80s). Who knows, with his impending retirement and Falmer in the offing, one of the Albion's own could return to the fold.

I know this drama won't last forever, but it's got a few years left in it yet!!

Born and bred in Sussex- Patcham and Lindfield (apart from a temporary blip for a few years at uni now!), but always proud to support the Albion and show off the stripes.

Although, as someone said in a previous post- wouldn't mind a "dull" mid-table finish next season please!

We are a truly remarkable club, with a fantastic recent history of success against all the odds... the never-say-die spirit of the fans, players and all involved is amazing...

If 2 Jags finally pulled his bloody finger out and said the "Yes" that is so obviously justified, then I am sure that the positive feeling about our beloved club would only increase, and we would push on to become a major force in div one and, who knows, the top flight...

I have been an Albion fan since my first trip to the Goldstone, in August 1972. I have had a season-ticket for many years. Home or away, I still get emotional when I see Brighton & Hove Albion running onto the field. At home, our anthem, Sussex by the Sea, fills me with pride. (I nearly wept when it was played and sung, with such passion, at the Millennium Stadium, after the game.) Away from home, on hostile territory, I feel a special bond with the Albion players and fans. It is no exaggeration, then, to say that, for me and for all Albion fans, the history and character of the club was condensed into one glorious day: May 30th, 2004.
The club having won the division 2 title two seasons ago, I had seen fourth place as something of a failure. However, once we were in the play-off final, I knew that the fans would turn up in their thousands and that Mark McGhee and the boys would rise to the occasion; that, through a great collective effort, John Prescott and the football world would see what a great club is Brighton & Hove Albion.
I tell you all: we have enjoyed great times, we have endured almost unbearable pain, but the best years are still ahead for our club.

Me too. I just thank my lucky stars that my late dad decided my 9th birthday treat would be Albion vs Grimsby (9/2/74, 1-1)

Fantastic thread that says so much about the enjoyment that the Albion have given us all - particularly over the past four years.

As the song goes .... "My only Brighton...."

and personally I don't think we sing that enough as the words say so much about the journey we've all been on over the past ten years.

I've been watching the Brighton for 34 years, since Easter 1970 and I can honestly say that :

a) the last 5 years at Withdean have been the most exciting time ever, in that whole period, better than Mullery, better than Ward, better than the 1983 cup final

and

b) with a 'Yes' decision to come for Falmer that *undoubtedly* the very best is yet to come !
