Molango ran his heart out and put in a few agressive tackles - he doesn't seem to understand the term friendly. He took quite a lot of clog from their defenders and got no protection from Royston the ref but apart from a few shoulder barge retaliations, he just got on with it.
I'm not convinced about a partnership with Leon yet - Leon doesn't like passing much and there was very little interplay between the two. All 3 goals were very well taken and Molango's was an extremely powerful finish when through on the keeper.
In the first half we were very poor - didn't look particularly pleased to be there and their keeper made his first save on the stroke of half time. We showed much more urgency in the second half and played very well but it was difficult to judge as they made 6 subs after 50 minutes so we were almost playing their reserves when we scored our 3 goals. And the centre half whose testimonial it was was pushed up front at the same time.
Their goals was very neatly worked and was similar to Swindon's second in the playoffs - a neat one two putting their right winger through on Kuipers and a neat sidefoot finished it off. Before that, Michel had made a blinding save from a point blank header and we also survived a comedy pinball effort. They faded in the second half but looked a very good team in the first and thet have a few old pro's in the team - mostly old Torquay/Plymouth/Exeter Old Boys such as Paul Gibbs. They would be a good bet for the Southern Conference this season - if they don't go bankrupt first. Claridge has spent an awful lot of money on their team and they were practically begging for money on the PA - some kind of pop concert to raise funds.
Considering a full strength Sheff Utd team won 5-3, it probably wasn't a bad performance. Currie put in a couple of nice crosses and showed a bit of skill on the wing - a bit Brooker like. Hammond and Oatway looked poor in the first and, believe it or not, things improved when Lee replace Hammond. Butters seemed a bit lumbering in the first half and Mayo looked good going forward but suspect at the back - their goal came on Mayo/Butters side. OGH seemed more interested in squaring up to their left back than playing for his place. Jonah was his usual self - good pace and skill with no end product. Michel played well and had no chance with the goal.
