But,

the better these teams do in Europe, the more people watch. the more kids watch, the more they become addicted to football. Then little Jonny says, "Daddy can you take me to a football match?"

Hey presto, daddy take Jonny to watch Brighton and guess what, Jonny becomes an Albion fan!

Believe me there will be people who post on here that this has happened to! You just have to look at some old threads to see people admitting..... I used to support Liverpool, Utd etc etc.

As much as you hate to admit it, clubs like us owe a lot to English teams success in Europe and the Premiership!

I can't agree with that at all.

The success of English clubs in Europe HURTS clubs like ours, because when youngsters turn on the TV to watch football, or read the sports page in a newspaper, odds are they're going to be watching or reading about Man United, Liverpool, Chelsea or Arsenal.

When your average kid sees all the players they know playing for one of those teams (when they play football in the playground, they're more likely to pretend to be Cristiano Ronaldo or Thierry Henry than Bas Savage or Kerry Mayo, because those are the players with whom they're familiar), and sees that team winning pretty much every time they see them or read about them, they're more likely to take in an interest in one of those teams and not give two shits about little old Brighton & Hove Albion and others like them.

to benefit football in this country!

Why teams who are representing this country in Europe are treated like this beggars belief!

As if City have anything to play for!

1. Manchester United are owned by an AMERICAN, managed by a SCOTSMAN, and their best player is PORTUGUESE. The majority of their fans are from SINGAPORE, they are NOT an English club, they are a very successful global franchise.

2. If you knew anything about Manchester, you would know that City do have something to play for when it comes to pride in this city.

Helps English football.
COMPLETE CRAP!!
If English clubs win the Champions league for the next ten years it will mean NOTHING to clubs in the lower league's.
Likewise if England won the world cup!!
You just see more kids and plastic middle class fans buying shirts of Chelsea,Man Utd etc.
I've no problem with Utd cause unlike Chelsea they try to win playing football.
And they got rich though winning and playing decent football
not having some Russian suddenly appear.
But don't tell me winning the Champions league helps English football,PLEASE!!:shootself

In a pile of football shirts
I think this is all a bit over the top chaps. United have quite reasonably asked for the game to be moved due to a fixture pile up.

As has been said, what if Chelsea asked, or even one day if we need a match to be moved because we have important games in quick succession.

It really is unnecessary for City to refuse this request, as it would be for ANY team to refuse ANY other team on similar grounds.

FFS grow up City.

:nono: you really should get over this Anyone but United attitude!

And I really think that you should get over this "don't give a damn about the fans" attitude. This game is less than two weeks away - why should all the fans who have bought their tickets for May 5th in good faith have their plans screwed to suit Man Utd? You can bet there are loads of people who have booked transport and others who have booked time off work. Good for City for respecting the needs of their fans first.

Would Man City lose TV revenue if the game were to be switched (as sky already have a game on for the day they want to move it to so wouldn't be able to show it) or is all tv revenue pre-paid?...

Can't disagree with that, they have after all won the European Cup as often as Nottingham Forest.

Here there and everywhere
Lets look at this hypothetically(spl?) shall we. Just say for instance if Palace wanted to move a match against us to suit them, when it may not suit us. Now we wouldnt be verry happy about that would we?

I dont blame Man City for taking this stance.

For me, it's not just United, but any team, that thinks it's bigger, and better than any other, and Man United come in to that category for me.

But they are bigger and better than any other team.
