A better comparison would be if we lost to Stevenage in the FA Cup final whist dropping out of the play offs.

an even better conparison is if we made ten changes for a league match and dropped to 14th in the table then lose in the cardiff city in the semi final of the carling cup

You wouldn't be saying that if you were a United fan though would you!?

You know what? I probably would.

I'm a big fan of letting football do the talking and Rooney is mor ethan capable of winding up City fans through that route than having personal digs at their players.

So if someone like Nooney tweeted something along the same lines (ish) like what Rooney did but to someone like Scannel/Clyne/Murray over the Carling Cup semi-final...would you not approve of it and not find it amusing!?

I'd probably utter a slight chuckle, but I'd find it pretty disingeuous.

This is also different as it's commenting on International matches, something that Rooney has miserably failed at for years.

He's talking about fellow professionals losing in the final of a major international tournament. Slight difference.

At least they managed to get to a major final, unlike Rooney who looked like an angry clueless oaf in his last foray onto the world stage.

The guy is a moron

you're correct in your assumption that for the national team, I place no value on anything other than winning trophies.

So from an England point of view, you'd consider Italia 90 and Euro 96 a complete waste of time ? The 120th minute winner v Belgium, the nerve-jangler against a gallant and skilfull Cameroon, both of those epic semi-finals against Germany, the stylish destruction of Holland, the Gascoigne goal against Scotland....all a waste of time because we didn't ultimately lift the trophy at the end of it ?

What a jaundiced view. I've got memories from those tournaments I'll have for a lifetime (all the more cherished because of the DIRGE we've had in just about every other one). Its every bit about the journey as well as whether its a successful one in the end.

I really think you should let people know how you really feel and stop bottling things up. It's not healthy.
