By the sounds of the statement from the Leeds board on their website, it sounds like their preferred choice of manager is already employed. Poyet?

I would very much suspect that Poyet is at the, or near the top of their wanted list. What is also a giveaway is they seem to be adopting a 'wait and see' approach, which suggests they may well be seeing which division we will be in next season. If we go up then I doubt we will hear from them, however, if stay down I expect them to come for Poyet.

In my opinion, the sensible thing to do would be to appoint McDermott so he has the remaining 6 games to work with the current squad to see who he wants to keep/where he needs to strengthen for next season.

Albion & England forever.

Nestling in green nowhere
McDermott sort of hinted on GOS that there was some sounding out from serious clubs...dead cert for Leeds IMO.

@SkySportsNews: Sky Sources: Leeds United manager Neil Warnock has left the club #SSN
Ok.
Just confirmed on FiveLive
Er, ok.
Talksport confirmed Warnock sacked.
Christ, do we need it confirmed again?

He'd be a fool to pass it up were the job offered, really hope he doesn't go there though......
If it was offered now, would he be able to gain promotion quicker than with us? I'd think not, but I don't know how much they've got to spend.

Ooh, how strange. Warnock sacked from Leeds after losing to Nigel Clough, son of former manager of Leeds and Brighton Brian Clough, Gus Poyet former assistant at Leeds now manager of Brighton, Martin O'Neil former player of Clough Snr. just sacked from Sunderland, replaced by Di Canio former manager of Swindon where Gus Poyet was assistant...........where will it all end?
With Poyet managing every team in the league. It's the only fair solution.

Perhaps I am off the pace but, but despite his having been there before, I cannot honestly see Gus ever going back to Leeds.

I mean, what is there which there isn't at Brighton with knobs on ?

Can someone explain to me the supposed Gus-Leeds love-in? He never played for them and had a year there as Assistant manager....Whereas he was given his first proper manager's job by Brighton, won his first managerial trophy, has 25000+ crowds every week who, bar the tiniest proportion, think he's the mutt's nuts, works at a ground which makes Elland Road look like its from the ark and has a state-of-the-art training ground being built to his spec.

Why does he supposedly have this huge affection for Leeds that he apparently doesn't feel for Brighton? Makes little sense.

Leeds are and always will be a bigger club than Brighton. The only reason I think might stop him from going is the weird ownership issues going on bad the seemingly lack of investment in the squad.

With these rumours after every sacking you'd think Gus was at some sort of tinpot run down club. These constant rumours may be good for Gus ego but they show little respect for the fact that he is at a club that will continue to improve, with or without him. Hopefully he will stay but I'd like to see him come out and say that he has a job to complete and owes much of what he has to TB so he is going nowhere, especially at this point in the season.

I'd like to think this will happen too but unfortunately I don't think Gus will. Cue intense and destabilising media speculation until the end of the season initiated by Leed's statement that their preferred choice is currently in employment elsewhere.

Why? Owners are a front for previous owners to enable a genuine sale, club have massive debt that means their value falls well below the asking price. Only a rich fan would buy them as it is a guaranteed way to loose a fortune and give Bates and his buddies shed loads of cash.

Leeds are in the poo and will be for a while.

Reading are a far better option.

How many championship clubs still have the manager that they started with this season? There can't be many.

Not really though, they may have more history but they don't own their ground or training complex, happy to be corrected
