Barrel of Fun

Abort, retry, fail
"A couple of weeks after it happened, I got sent off against Sunderland because I allowed myself to become frustrated at everything that had been going on. There were so many emotions swirling round my head and yet I had fellow professionals, who I thought would have some understanding, winding me up about what happened."

Did some Sunderland boys really wind him up about the death of his father?????

:nono: Is he saying the Sunderland players were using this to wind him up do you think???

That sending off was a strange one though. If I remember rightly, the first was a deserved yellow for recklessly charging head-down into an opponent who was jumping for the ball. The second was for a strong (but fair) challenge which got the ball but also took out the other player. I didn't agree with that 2nd yellow, but it does seem that he 'lost it' for a few minutes there.

He did lose it.

But the second 'challenge' was hardly a 'challenge', because no-one else was there. Until about five second later when one of their fellows went in studs showing over where the ball would have been. But we're Brighton, and we always get wankers for referees.

But, hey, f*** it - we won 2-1. Even Trolley scored.

Could be Sean Thornton doing the wind-ups. Seem to remember Gary Hart saying that various Sunderland players were giving it the biggun about how much money they were on, with Thornton being one of the worst offenders.

Of course, we beat them 2-1 with 10 men and Thornton now plays for Doncaster Rovers.

Lovely lad.

He'll be fine up there. He can handle it.

He'll be a big star one day, may even lift a trophy.

Although probably not at international level

Funny to read that he thinks his game has improved since being there, despite barely having played any football. I think he's kidding himself and this was a bad mistake for his career. He'll be back playing Championship football next season.
