Virgin or Sky

Now I know this has probably already been done before but I missed it
I currently have the Sky World package, sports, movies yahdee yahdee yah, trouble is if my Sky HD box breaks down I get charged a minimum £65 to get it repaired.
I have been offered a like for like package with Virgin Media for pretty much the same price but no call out charge if needed.
Problem I have is which one do you guys think is better or are they similar in every way
Please help

No def go with Sky, their system is much faster. Virgin is soo slow, I would pay more for Sky.

After having SKy for years I recently switched to Virgin because it was cheaper.

Plusses for Virgin include:

You can record 2 programs & watch another with Virgin as opposed to watch 1 & record another with Sky.

When there is bad weather I no longer have to worry that I will lose my signal.

The big minus is that the box is a lot slower and can get quite infuriating if you are a channel flicker like me.

having used both I can say that the ONLY problem I have with Virgin is the box. It's features are great but it takes so long to respond to input and actually change or even scroll through listings that it makes me want to rip my face off..

That said, the huge selection of free on-demand tv shows means I very rarely channel hop anymore, I just choose what I want to watch. It's a brilliant way to watch tv. No extra cost for HD channels and record 2 programs at once whilst watching another is great too.

AND you've got the added bonus of having lightning fast internet.

We've recently changed from Sky to Virgin as well, mainly down to price. Much prefer Virgon on the whole, except one thing that winds me up with the Virgin box is the tv guide only gives that days programmes.

Can't see whats on for the week ahead let alone set reminders for future programmes. We used the reminder feature and the series reminder a lot on Sky because we've got such shit memories for whats on

sky pro - easy to use, fairly good cust service
con - expensive tv and shockingly bad internet service...i mean really poor.slow and unreliable,how they won awards god only knows

virgin pro - easy to use,more choice of on demand stuff than sky,faster more reliable internet
con - cust serv complete bastards

You can record TV from it, pause live TV and probably watch HD channels (even possible 3D) if you have the correct telly box.

I think Virgin has bbc i player and 4oD where I am not sure Sky does.

It's probably black and actualy says V+ in red, also your RC will have a record button, and will also be black.

We've been on Sky Broadband for 6 months or so and it has been superb.

Have fancied Virgin most but understand you can't get Sky Sports News with them. Is that right?
