My word, you are precious. Maybe you should of said all that the first time round instead of writing what looked like a smart arse reply to someone.
How the fcuk is me quoting the op posting the image saying ‘maybe the Club posted a picture of Barco with Messi is because he maybe named in the Argentinian squad’ this weekend a ‘smart arse’ comment?! The Caps in my explanatory follow up was for emphasis that it was a “maybe”..

3 other posters did the same with different suggestions

FFS It’s not me being precious.

Your reply, however, all capital letters and bold font was, indeed, precious.

Wonder why the official club have posted this? Maybe a return? Maybe signing Messi 😂

Maybe because he is being named by Scaloni to play on Tuesday against Columbia?

Sincere apologies if that suggestion is insulting to you or anyone else.

Because a poster made a sneering putdown response to my original suggestion (posted again above for clarity) which was phrased completely benignly and in response to a question several others were also answering..

It was to emphasis that I’d said MAYBE (as opposed to stating fact) because we don’t know what the lineup is just that it is being decided this weekend.

Do you even enjoy the time you spend on NSC, Mr. Misunderstood?

Can you just, occasionally, shrug and just let things go and walk on by please ?

I would say, the fact he has been called up for the squad is enough to post an image of him and Messi anyway
I wholeheartedly agree - no need for Barco to feature in the next game for the post to make sense.
(And just to add - If we are currently in OTB negotiations with Strasbourg over add ons/sell on clauses, then Barco named in a squad for a WC qualifier on Tuesday adds value and gravitas to those negotiations anyway)
If only it were so, but I strongly suspect the terms of any sale would have been negotiated before Barco went out on loan rather than upon the completion of the loan.

Surely Strasbourg would have already agreed the fee ( if reports are true). Would a club agree a right to buy without knowing a final figure?
I'm with you on this, odd isn't it.

His loan at Strasbourg seems to have been incredibly successful. I suspect that this 'obligation to buy' might have come with strings attached. From experience, it seems that TB normally has a bunch of strings attached in any deal.

Fatherhood and the failed Spanish loan may well have given the lad some maturity, perspective and a bit of a reality check.

To be honest, I thought he looked pretty good for us when he played. You could argue that he is a very similar type of full back to Kadıoğlu.

I'd love to see him get another chance with us this summer. I think a midfield of Baleba and Wieffer should give enough protection for us to play attacking/marauding full backs, potentially on both sides. Barco looks excellent when going forward.

True - not necessary but a point of interest. I did only say ‘maybe’ and there was a question at the end of my suggestion so really not sure why my post was met with such a flurry of negativity tbh.

I suspect as I suggested above, Brighton having agreed an OTB would have left some scope to increase add ons/sell on clauses (even if they would have settled the basic transfer fee at the time of agreeing the OTB) if he had a successful loan period at Strasbourg. However, I don’t think that’s anything to do with posting an image of him tbh. IMO.

Quite.

Fab Out and match day threads aside most of what might be construed as hostility on this website is just snark - it’s really not worth getting upset about or taking so personally.

We probably still control his contract. Loan deals tend to be structured with a fee for the loan itself, wage contributions, an option/obligation to buy and a lever the parent club can pull to cancel the option to buy.

Indeed.

Good to see that he's not died on his arse on loan, like poor old Fergy

Yes, his contract with us lasts to 30th. June (ref: Transfermarkt).

According to the article below there is an obligation to buy for £8.47M (10M Euros). No doubt we'll have a sell on clause. The bugger is that Chelsea and Strasbourg are both owned by BlueCo, so there is presumably nothing to stop Chelsea buying him from Strasbourg for £8.47M, and FU to Brighton for any sell on fee.
Hopefully some expert on the rules will tell me there's a way they can't do this.

Did we not agree an Obligation to Buy? Is cancelling an OTB an option? It may depend on what conditions TB attached to the trigger:

(I wish it were so - I’d love Barco back home with us next season - surely FH can’t help being impressed by his performances since January)

Would be a shame if we let such a promising player slip through our fingers. I'm hoping there's a clause in the deal that means we can keep hold of him

Transfermarkt have the Stratsbourg contract ending in 3 weeks with 'conditions' for the OtB.

One might argue that after his previous car-crash loan, the OtB might have been necessary for both the loaning club and the player to take his development seriously.

Also, one condition of his sale might be whether we still want to let him go or not? Stuttgart certainly found it difficult to enact a OtB with us after Undav have a stunning loan spell, and their fans f***ing hate us because of it!!!

Indeed. An obligation suggests, no dictates an outcome.
So, to be honest, I am flummoxed.

....unless we have entered 'must versus 'should' territory here,
as elegantly navigated by B Johnson a year or so ago.
If so, let's hope the outcome here is more successful from our perspective than it was for Johnson. ???
