Must say, I am watching more and more PGA golf on Sky this year - love the coverage, big tournments every week, usually with plenty of "notables" as they call them. Throw in the cricket, footie and Sarah Stirk and if you can aford it, what's not to like.

This course is bastard hard and quite unfair even for US Open standards in that a lot of the fairways slope the opposite way to the dog leg.
Last winner here was Lee Janzen (a rifle straight hitter), get your money on a straight hitter, I think Donald and westwood have a chance but I fancy as previously stated.....Kuchar

So, after a tought day one, Tiger, Rose, Watney, Gmac and Kuchar are up there and going pretty well. Fowler, Westwood and Sergio are a little way back but not out of it by any means.

Zack Johnson, Rory and Donald are effectively toast already.

Todays tees include Nick Watney at 15:59, Mahan, Kaymer and Rose at 16:10 and Tiger/Phil/Bubba at 21:18.

Round 1 proved to be carnage for some players, including most of the players I backed. Players starting on the 9th shot 1.25 shots less than those starting on the 1st, presumably due to the first 6 holes being brutal. That puts the likes of Furyk and McDowell in a better position Today as they start on the 9th Today.

Tiger looked to be in complete control and played how the tournament should be played - from the fairway. 3/1 on Betfair looks fair value to me and have backed him to cover my stakes, with a small profit.

Donald and McIlroy were woeful but Westwood battled well after a double bogey on the first but his chipping and putting aren't good enough to win imo.
