Were it not for the endless coverage on MSM about him, I would probably never have heard of him. Is discussing him really helpful or is it just giving him the oxygen of more publicity?

Trying to understand what drives people to subscribe to his beliefs is certainly helpful. Ignoring him will not make him disappear.

I know one young man who is smart, thoughtful, non aggressive and yet feels that Tate's messaging is 'useful and helpful ' to some/many men. I have trouble squaring that view with the person I know. (I dislike Tate's messaging intensely!)

Same as me. He could have been writing whatever on twitter but if he wasn't in the news, i'd have never heard of him.

Honestly, I think you'll get a lot of responses which are dismissive or disparaging of Tate, because he is the extremist end of this manosphere phenomenon, and is the figurehead, but there are others talking about masculinity who are less overt but have broader appeal (eg Rogan).

A pretty generic survey, circulated among men as a whole will probably not give much new information.

Exploring his influence among specific vulnerable demographics (particularly schoolchildren), or through certain media channels, would seem like an interesting direction for further steps, although perhaps that is already the plan. Or looking at specific visions of "masculinity" that are promoted by him, without naming him explicitly.
