RIP. Loved seeing him play for England.

Held really high standards for players when he coached, a continental thing ahead of his time. From memory the cabal of boozing/p-taking players at QPR got him the sack when he tried that.

Amazing that a club the size of Forest could be the first English cub to buy a £1M player. Football has changed for the worse in competitiveness since then.
RIP

He was the main man. You don't many of them.

He died far to young. I hope he didn't suffer.

Brighton 0-4 Sheffield Wednesday

Him and John Sheridan destroyed us at the Goldstone, probably the most one sided game I've seen.
I too was at that game.

To be fair we were never further than 4 foot from the ball, though equally we were never nearer than three foot from the ball.

A great player, who will be sadly missed.

I read somewhere that fee was the equivalent of £253m in today’s market, not sure how they worked that out but puts it into context a bit with the Mbappe fee.

It was a heart attack. Hard for his family being so sudden but no, he didn't suffer and it wasn't long and drawn-out.

Even in his later playing years for QPR and Sheffield Wednesday in the top flight, he could cross a mean ball, coming off the substitutes bench.

Very sad. One of the biggest superstars when I got in to football. Sounds like a really lovely man too.

Ah. A sad day.

Re-visiting a chat I had on here about a clutch of players I will always associate Shoot magazine with.....Trevor was also one of them.
Peter Knowles.

Nice to think that he fulfilled both his personal and professional ambitions.
Note there also, Freddie Goodwin, and Cassius Clay. 😮
