Walked back to Brighton when I saw the queue. Trains to/from Amex are becoming unviable especially for evening games. Made the delayed 11:15 from Brighton, it was rammed due to other cancellations.

Um, yeah, I did know that. Frustrating tho, that the longest of the trains were going in the opposite direction to the largest flow of people at the time when they were most needed
OK i now understand what you meant. And what you’re saying is a consequence of having a mixture of different length trains: by chance (and Sod’s Law) the short trains will often be the ones hitting the highest demand. Put on consistently long trains and everything’s fine.

Yeah, I'm staggered that more people don't cycle. I left Hove Rec just after 7.15 and was in the ground by 7.55. Coming home, I clapped the players off and was back home (not Hove) at 10.20. I live quite close to the ground but I'd cycle wherever was. I used to cycle to Withdean as well as it's by far the easiest way to get away from the game.
I'm not. Works fine if you're in cycling distance and either on your own or with one or two other people, but otherwise it doesn't. A lot of people live outside Sussex or have limited time to get to the ground from Hastings or Worthing-ish. A lot have booked Seagulls Travel. Many families of three or four drive. And many, like me, go into town before a game and meet groups of friends for a few beers.

There's enough spurious complaints about cyclists on NSC already without twenty slightly inebriated MAMILs forming a peloton on the A27 slip road.

I cycled, being lucky enough to live in central Brighton, about four miles from The Amex.

It was noticeable how many more people were walking towards town than has previously been the case, and I would imagine that this is now a quicker (and more pleasant) option for a lot of people.

Wheeling my bike past the queue for the train, there was someone singing opera arias, he had an incredible voice. Kind of him, that must have provided some lovely entertainment for those waiting.

Great that you can cycle - agree it would be brilliant if more locals did the same.

However, the club did a survey a few years ago - BHA have a huge percentage of fans who don't live in Brighton/Hove, for whom cycling is an impossibility.

Personally I hate that so many leave early - I get why they do - but the complete lack of joined up thinking re transport reflects badly on the club IMO

All the time we sell out though, they don't care.

I just hope there aren't many more cyclists as dodging the horse shit and cycles coming at you from all angles last night made the long queues even more 'fun'. Great night though so i suppose its all part of the 'ride'

Also doesn't help that as they don't seem fill the pen under the ramp closest to the platform anymore it means that the queue inevitably goes beyond the end of the barriers and ends up in a bit of a bun fight rather than a good old British queue.

I live in the furthest reaches of Best Sussex.
I left home at about 17:30.
Parked up in Brighton.
Cycled the 3 miles to AMEX, arriving a touch after 19:00

Left my seat after the last player left the pitch.
Was home just after 23:00. (approximately 2 hours BEFORE the Athens game when I stupidly accepted a lift to Mill Road).

There's always a lot of bollox written about cycling to the Albion, seemingly by posters who enjoy moaning about their choice of the alternative.

The responsibility for joined up thinking doesnt solely rest with the club.
Every single person yesterday knew transport was going to be a cluster**k, and yet most did exactly the same as the Athens game.

No prizes for guessing how Marseille will play out.

The bottom line is the more people who cycle to the AMEX the better every single fans transport experience becomes.

But no it's better to vilify, call names, group all cyclists into a minority subsection and label them all dangerous than actually think of the benefits for users of all the transport available.

I had no idea the trains would be so bad, how did you know it would be a disaster?

An utter f***ing shambles again, club can't do anything and don't seem to sympathise, no other park and ride opened to take the pressure off either. I nearly got crushed at Falmer Station there was a surge to get on the train that was absolutely ridiculous.

Absolutely embarrassing for a so called state of the art stadium

For those of us murdering climate change deniers, I left home at 5:30 and drove off the a27 at the Asda turn off to go down coldean lane and I have never known it so bad! It took over an hour to get from ditchlin road turnoff down coldean lane to the lewes road and then 40 minutes to get to parking C at the uni.

I got in the ground 15 minutes before KO.

Getting back wasn’t too bad although the queue on the road to get to the a27 roundabout on the slip road took about 20 minutes and got home at around 10:30ish.

Lot of people in the university car parks asking how to get to the ground. Lots of footy tourists there last night

You might want to have a quick look. Most buses - including mine are sold out as people bought the 3 match travel ticket. Those that have sold out have been removed from the list. Link here ... https://www.eventtravel-hub.co.uk/2...s-olympique-marseille-kick-off-8pm-3794-p.asp
That’s the bus list - have a look on the site for a separate coach list as well 👍🏻

Below for ease

Parked on edges of Brighton on street. Walked to stadium and back. Back at haywards heath having some toast in my pants by 11:15ish. Not bad considering the walk was 45 mins.

We were caught up in that, it would appear Ajax fans got bored of waiting for buses and decided to walk from the King and Queen so police had to escort them hence traffic held up. Got to our seats 5 minutes before KO, normally we are there a good half hour prior to KO
