Messy - RAF helicopters x 4, Fire Engines x 10, plus more helping with it, lots of reports of wounded, nothing relating to deaths yet. Virgin tilting train apparently, it's a major incident.

Most definitely a very major incident.

Let's hope there are no fatalities

Said on the news there were 150 people on board, and 180 in the report above, spread over 9 carriages. Would have thought for a London-Scotland train that left at 5pm on a Friday night there would have been many more people than that on board. These trains are usually heaving with people.

According to the news all 9 carriages have derailed with 80 fire brigade personel on site.

Also 4 emergency RAF helicoptors.

Very sad for Virgin as they have had an excellent safety record.

Latest on the radio news said that there are a number of people trapped, emergency services are battling against appalling weather conditions to release them.

This does not look good as so far only 48 people accounted for according to Sky half an hour ago as only one carriage can be accessed.

It is now nearly 3 hours after the incident happened although thankfully Sky are infering many may have already been moved from the scene, let's hope so.

:( :( :(

Yes, and those on the train, too. Didn't want to appear insensitive. Sorry if I did.

Just wanted to show a bit of support for the men and women who will be going into God only knows what tonight, to rescue those affected.

No I really fear for what has happened it looks awful to say the least but hope springs eternal and maybe it is not as bad as it seems.

BBC says 8 passengers have serious injuries, but non life-threatening. I don't know how up to date that is.

Been watching Sky and they seem to say only one carriage has been cleared.
