His defence is, yes I misled parliament but I had no idea I was doing it. So basically I did it, but not my fault guv. Absolutely risible.

Johnson is a serial liar in both his personal and professional life, there is no reason to believe he has ever done anything in good faith.

At the time of the parties people could not meet, many were isolated dealing with trauma of losing loved ones to the pandemic. This pathetic whining from this self-serving prat is a grave insult to all those abiding by the rules throughout the crisis. How anyone thought this chancer was ever suitable to run this country is beyond me.

Ridiculous sabotage from the ERG

However Labour will bring with them their own equivalent with the Socialist Campaign Group within their parliamentary party

And so it goes and so it goes
A lot of people use 'They're all the same' when they've made a crap decision and don't want to admit it. By claiming 'They're all the same' it somehow justifies their crap decision, a bit like saying 'All Chinese food is crap' because they chose a crap Chinese restaurant.

But I'm sure that isn't the case here

Johnson's claims he didn't understand the law might have more impact if he wasn't literally on TV every night telling us what the law was at the time.

There are also people who consider any kind of comparison between governments to be whataboutery, thereby removing any option for comparison, as suits their narrative.

But I’m sure that isn’t the case here either

Marilyn Monroe once said “I’m not offended by all the dumb blonde jokes because I know I’m not dumb… and I also know that I’m not blonde.”
Unfortunately Johnson is blonde.

Is Suella Braverman still in the ERG?
She claimed to be but since it is a group of MPs for which there is no confirmed membership list or available list of funders, who knows

The only membership details speculated were those copied into an e-mail from Steve Baker as a result of a freedom of information request when he was a junior minister in DExEU, but this isn't conclusive. Bit of a cock up there Steve e-mailing from a ministerial account, Suella got fired for similar :lolol:

Although apparently it doesn't stop them getting public funding through the Independent Parliamentary Standards Authority ???

Johnson is still lying. He was lying then and he is lying now. He really needs sacking off.

The ERG probably hate him now. They were at their most potent under the May government because of her low majority. Johnson's huge majority means they can't be so harmful. Bunch of kunnts.

But because he has rewritten the ministerial code (and even if they use the old one), sincerely believing you were acting correctly may be a defense. He is being accused of deliberately misleading parliament. This is in itself a ludicrous charge because it requires proof of motive.

The only way out would be to use the Arnold Judas Rimmer defense - that the accused is too stupid to understand he is breaking the rules. "This excuse of a man, this maggot, so stupid that he objects to his own defense (etc.)"

If the verdict is that the man is too stupid to understand the difference between right and wrong, I'd be happy with that.

Not sure that fatty has thought this one through. Given he has never thought anything through, not beyond "do I get money or a f*** out of it?" anyway.

I hope they plough him into a field.

What a load of tosh - of course people could meet, they could meet at work.
Not everyone was isolating, not bus drivers, train drivers, nurses, factory workers, farmers, police, armed forces, journalists, builders, shopworkers, etc etc, and especially politicians of all parties.
You could also go outside for exercise and walk your dog as long as you kept 2 metres apart.
Get your facts right.

There's meeting at work and then 'meeting' at work with tons of booze.

We weren’t allowed to hold parties, like that mob did.

I could mix with colleagues for a 14 hour shift but wasn’t allowed to sit next to them on the bus.

I couldn’t attend my step father’s funeral, held around the same time Johnson was raising a glass to a garden full of people who had no business being at No.10.

Plough the lot of them into a ditch.

Sadly, I think I know the answer, and I've been told by @Bozza not to insult people on NSC

so I will simply quote Joseph de Maistre

Toute nation a le gouvernement qu'elle mérite

and to the innocents who have been caught up in this last few years of complete and utter idiocy, you have my sympathies
