Which of our players could hold their own in a team challenging for the play offs. Take off the rose tinted as well.

I reckon

Whing
Elphick possibly
McNulty although jurys out
Murray possibly
Forster possibly

The rest I'm just not sure about. Players like Cox etc come in and out of form but lets not forget the level we're at. I'm not convinced.
Difficult, can see it taking 2 years to phase out a lot of the mediocre players we currently have which is why I think I'd accept mid table next year.

I never thought I would agree with NF9 but I do. Murray is League 1's Berbatov. So talented but can frustrate. Will do better in a higher standard.

Forster, Murray, Virgo, Elphick, McNulty, Kuipers. Whing and Cox if in good form. Doesn't take a genius to see that we need BIG investment in midfield.

So going by these we need 2 CM's good enough for this league and beyond, and a winger?

Whing
Elphick
Virgo
McNulty
Murray definite
Forster definite

I find it strange how Whing has become so highly rated over the last season. He had his fair share of poor games too, his distribution is still poor, he seemed to win player of the season on the back of a few last ditch blocks and challenges in the darkest days of Micky Adams. He's a solid player at this level but I find it strange that people consider him definitely a top 6 player and then say that Murray or Forster only maybe are, and don't mention Dean Cox at all.

Elphick Murray Lynch. Top three players in the squad and could hold their own in any team in league1.

Forster McNulty Whing. Forster and Whing very determined players but I feel they lack the technical prowess of those mentioned above, don't get me wrong very good players.

The 2 suprises are Whing who as Silent Bob says won Player of thje Season on the last couplerof months although I do believe that he could be a vital player next season if her performs like he did when he first came here from Coventry on loan.

The other is Virgo who was criticised by most on here for the majority of last season until RS played him in his best position but it just shows how fickle NSC posters are.

So firstly you claim Whing, a player you have constantly berated and knocked much to the surprise of others, could be a "vital player." Then you label people "fickle" for changing opinions on Virgo. Brilliant:clap2:

Yes I did slate him last season because I think that generally he was poor but if you read my post you will see that in saying he could be a vital player next season I added IF HE PLAYS LIKE HE DID WHEN HE WAS FIRST HERE ON LOAN FROM COVENTRY. If he cant reach that level again he will struggle as per last season.

I believe that RS may be able to bring him back, unlike MA who seemed to make him worse as the season went on,. but to his credit he improved after Christmas so much so that people voted for him as Player of the Season.

its not really fickle is it? most people on here criticised virgo, but said if he played in his natural position he would be able to do a job. and lo and behold, when he was put in his natural position, he looked good

just a shame adams raped him for the majority of the season
