Where was he in 96, 97,98,99 2000 (I could go on) when we needed people to stand up and be counted? Playing poker? We were playing Russian Roulette!

He was around and dipping his hand in his pockets (which may not have been so deep as they are now). In Charlie's book he says he paid for the end of season trip (to whereever they went this year) for the Division 3 champions.

but bloom has always just been an alternative source of finance. Saying he's a hero is like saying that you bank manager is doing something HEROIC by approving your cheque. Don't get me wrong I am fu;ll of admiration for what he has done in the last 18 months but .... so far all he has been is the final cog in the wheel to bail us out when the original funding plan went tits up and needed a tweak . falling back on his largesse was always an option.

errr... Have you been up to Falmer recently? Noticed that big new beautiful shiny building?

There's just a chance that in 96-2000 Bloom didn't have the money that he has now and wasn't in a position to take over. He - and the whole family - have clearly been involved for a lot longer than since he took over as chairman though. He is surely number one in the most influential people in the club over the last 20 years.

You're aware that we didn't have the money for the Amex and banks wouldn't lend it to us? Without his INTEREST FREE £90million+ loan we would not be playing at the Amex. Totally deserves his place on the list and is very high up on it.

Clearly you don't understand what the word 'influence' means

He bankrolled us before taking over, paid for our ground and employed the manager who's taking us to new heights. With hindsight his 'risk' in taking on Poyet was a masterstroke.

Yes. I think you'll find that the Bloom family have been involved with The Albion for decades and TB is a lifelong fan. I understand that he's been supporting financially in the background for years but hasn't made a big fuss about it.

BIG HERO if you ask me.
