He (or rather a researcher) did explain it: only applies if Chelsea win Conference and fall out of top 5. They qualify for Europa and England has 3 teams in Europa and none in Conference.
Correct, other than he said Chelsea need to finish outside the top six, rather than top five. Slightly more reassuring but not much!

I'm still lost.
Let's presume Chelsea win the Conference and thus qualify for the UEL.
IF they finish top 5 then they are in the UCL, does that leave the rest as before? 6 & 7 UEL and 8 Conference?
IF they finish 6th or 7th then what? 3 teams in the Europa so 6th, 7th & 8th?
So what we want is Chelsea to win the Conference and finish 6th or 7th and Palace to lose. That would mean 8th is UEL.

1) Yes
2) No, there would still be just two teams in UEL, and a third in the Conference, the UEL qualification resulting from Chelsea’s Conference win would not be transferred

I've read these and still don't know.

As I understand it ( let's assume Newcastle finish Top 5):

Top 5 are Champions League, 6th is Europa, so if Chelsea finish Top 5 they are CL, if they finish 6th they are already Europa, so no changes.

If Chelsea finish 7th and win the conference league ( lowest they could finish now) they get an extra Europa League place, and then either Palace for FA Cup win, or 8th place get Europa, and there is no Conference place.

Looking a little less likely now. It could be goodnight to their Champions League hopes if they don’t find a late winner.
What a fail since they won against us in the cup. They looked to have third place theirs to take but have stuttered since then.
