Here
CMS did little wrong tonight, he plays isolated upfront and our tactics do not suit him in the slighest, what is the f***ing point of hitting ball, after ball, after ball into the box from out wide when he's 5'8? What is the f***ing point. It's not CMS' fault we were shite tonight, it was the tactics and the team selection before anything else.

The last 2-3 performances from CMS have been almost identical to my cocker spaniel chasing his tennis ball in the park!
Let me know if you want him at training next week Gus, he's cheaper then CMS!

On a serious note he has to go! Cash him in even for 2m.
This club will not move forward with the current team, tactics and lack of passion!

The last 2 team performances are 2 of the worst that I have seen in years!
Bridcutt and Lua Lua are the only 2 in my opinion that put in respectable performances yesterday, however did anybody else notice that Lua Lua was completely fu**ed at around 70-75 mins?? Why wasn't he replaced?
I'm a fan of ElAbd but extra tackling practice is required next week! Watching the game back on sky it was horrendous! He looks like a thug who has to pull shirts and climb on people's backs every time!

Sorry for the deviation just a bit frustrated with things at the moment! Lets hope for a good Jan both playing and buying....

The problem isn't CMS, and never will be all the time we have a solid enough back 5, protected by a 'staggering' 2 holding midfielders and a defensive winger.

Free up the midfield, support the striker, give him the chances to miss.
If he misses this thread is justified, if he doesn't we are in the play-off.

Stat, your still missing the point IMO. Why do you keep banging on about last night? CMS has been poor for a lot longer than that.
"Give him the chances to miss" - where have you been??? He's been missing the simplest of chances for weeks...... Perhaps your not noticing mate.

I understand that this is a thread about CMS but surely we can all see it is not a failing of him but more a failing of the style and pace of play?! For me, our play is stifled every single game by Greer and ElAbd and yesterday demonstrated our total lack of pace at the back!

Credit where credit is due, Watford deserved to win yesterday but if we had a centre half with the vision to move the ball quicker and I mean much quicker, CMS would benefit from the spaces created. We have very good ball players in midfield but we are constantly having to play through 10 players due to our inability to move the ball quicker from the back!

We can all use CMS as a scapegoat but bringing in another striker is not going to change our goal scoring woes as long as we keep stifling our own play!

I know, I am noticing.

The one a couple of yards out, (in from KLL) a couple of weeks ago.
My point is, that was his only chance, so we all focus on it, as the bad miss it was.
My point is he didn't get the chance to make amends 5-10 minutes later.

No striker puts every chance away, certainly not one playing second division football, and bought of 'only' £2.5m.

CMS puts away 1 in 3 clear cut, and 1 in 6 half chances.

Ferret probably gets the 1 in 3 stat collated over 3 games, not the 45 mins most other strikers, certainly the Watford fellas last night, get.

Added to that, Reading last year (sorry if I made this point to you last night, it's all a bit of a blur).

1 player with 12 goals
1 with 8
1 with 7
1 with 6
2 with 5
2 with 4
3 with 3

11 players weighing in with significant goals, across the season.

What is easier to defend against:-

A team threatening from all over the pitch
or
A team with 1 threat easily contained by 2 proficient defenders.

Outside of CMS, Buckley and for the first time this season KLL, our main consist attacking threat has been Calde, a bit part right back.

Agree with all your comments re CMS. He worked his nuts off last night, as he does every time he plays.
If Poyet continues with the one up tactic I suspect CMS would be happy to go elsewhere, he deserves better.
In my humble opinion Dobbie is the solution. A pairing with CMS should have been tried many moons ago.
For home games I want to see two wingers also. Couldn't be any worse than the shambles we saw yesterday.

Barnes back on Tuesday? ???

Maybe it's time to try CMS in midfield. He'll see more of the ball and we do need a bit more energy in the middle of the pitch.

Yes that's it midfield for the most expensive striker the club has ever purchased freaking genius or if the doesn't work we could try him in goal.

I bet ferguson and fry must piss themselves each week.

We have ruined CMS and his whole game is suffering. Can't understand why we have this 'way of playing' but no fucker seems to be able to play it. Something clearly wrong and if it doesn't change very soon then you can see problems coming to a head be it in the dressing room or crowds dwindling at an alarming rate.

Totally agree. If CMS was playing up front with Murray for example he would look 100 times the player he is looking at the moment. I actually feel really sorry for the guy playing upfront on his own with a load of defensive players behind him.

He used to miss a lot for Peterboro but he got 5 or 6 chances a game with their attacking brand of football. How many times over the 2 seasons has CMS been put through on a one on one? A handful at most?

Totally on the mark ... problem is Gus doesn't appear able to play any other way and has this defensive hang-up entranched in his tactics

However much we paid for him is neither here nor there now that the deal has been done. Quite frankly, I'd much rather his energy was utilised in a more productive way than the lone striker role he is currently being asked to play for which he doesn't have the physical strength, aerial ability or leadership for.

Mackail-Smith is our most expensive player.
People think he must be a good player because of this or pray that he will come good as he is a Brighton player.
I was in this boat last season.
However he is clearly not up to this level.
Last season I went to every home game and 75% of away games, although this season not as many but enough to see he can't cut it amongst the best strikers.
If other clubs are really sniffing around him then we really must sell.
Anything over 2.5m would be a bonus and he wouldn't then leave as an expensive flop.

CMS just seems to be TOILING nowadays, with very little return for his efforts. A fresh start somewhere else would do him good IMHO. Feel sorry for the bloke. Its certainly not lack of effort that is the problem.

He clearly IS part of the problem. All this 'we don't play to his strengths' stuff is just crap. His first touch is shite, he is shite at one on ones, he isn't getting in any kind of position to have a shot, his crossing was shite last night....again. And we paid £3 million for that floppy-haired bag of shite. Just another Alex Revell but with more retweets.

Rafa has Torres scoring again by releasing the ball to him early and in front of him to run onto it. Not hard but manager after manager has failed to do it. If Gus could watch that and see how to make CMS all he should be then we would be just fine!

This 100%. If you play 1 up front you need to move the ball quicker and get midfielders up to support CMS quickly , not pump balls up to his chest with the nearest midfielder 15 yards away from him . Tactics , tactics ,tactics all to blame
